World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage
Other notes and tips
Chase spending tracker
- The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
- Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
- Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
- Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
- Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Hi all, just thought I would add a data point.
Had the old card for almost 4 years, so I decided to cancel and apply for the new WoH card. Canceled on Mon, tried applying on Tues, but got the 30 day message. Called them and was told the application automatically declined (without even doing a credit check), because they still showed my old card as being active. Was told to wait until my billing cycle completed (on the 17th). I've had $0 balance on this card for over a month, so it wasn't an issue of outstanding balance.
On a whim, I tried the application again today (Thurs), and was automatically approved. So it seems you do not quite need to wait for a full billing cycle to close, just need to wait at least a few days.
Has anybody had luck getting the card expedited?

Hey does anyone know if the cc number changes if you decide to upgrade the old Hyatt card to the new one? Weve kept and continued to use the old
hyatt card even with crummy terms just because its such a pain to relink all our automated bill paying. Since we bill pay online, in this case it might be worth the one time headache anyway this time as we spend enough to be on the cusp of globalist in combination with our Hyatt stays with the new terms.

NO. Once you get the Anniv. Free Night, it's yours--even if you cancel the card to avoid the AF. But I don't know if Hyatt has a similar rule to Marriott Visa, where updating re-sets your anniversary date.

you dont get the 60k points with the switch - I understand that but I dont know that I want to be bothered playing the credit card game waiting 30 days to get a new card. What a pain. We must have at least 5 autopayments linked to the Hyatt card. Thats why I never bothered switching even though its not a great card for spend. We decided to get the cards years ago when it came with 2 free nights (4 between my husband and I) at the beaver creek Park Hyatt for a ski trip and just stuck with it. So canceling and reapplying would mean Id have to manually pay each of those bills if any come due during the 30 day window to reapply.

I think the key is to cancel then reapply after your statement closing date. My wife did that and was approved 5 days in between. I did it 5 days apart but I applied during the same billing cycle and was giving the 30 message. I just reapplied one day after statement close and was approved

No. This is on the Chase website: The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Hyatt Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Hyatt Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months.

I had an interesting communication with Chase (in writing via SM) regarding the new rule on this WoH card:
The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Hyatt Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Hyatt Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months.
I signed up for the previous Chase Hyatt VISA card back in early Jan of 2017. At the time I signed up there the bonus was for 2 Free Night Certificates after spending $2,000 in a three month period. In addition, there was an additional bonus of 5000 Hyatt points for adding an Authorized user and making a single purchase.
Upon receiving the card I immediately made the first purchase triggering the 5000 point AU bonus. I received that bonus on my Feb 26th statement.
Then it took me until early March to reach the $2,000 spend requirement and I did not receive the 2 Free Night certs until April.
So what's interesting is that when I SM'd chase asking for clarification as to when I would be eligible for the bonus us they said I wouldn't be eligible until after Feb 26th, 2019. They seemed to either not count or miss the fact that I received an additional bonus a couple months later with the free weekend nights. So it could just be a mistake or oversight by the rep or perhaps Chase can is counting bonus point (as free night certificates don't show up on the statements) yet the language in there WoH card T&Cs is clear and not specific to just points.
The reason I share this is that for people that may not have received the 5000 AU points perhaps Chase would not enforce the 24 month rule that precludes them from the bonus points on this new WoH card if they received just the Free Night certs from the other card in the past 24 months.
Here is the exact text from the SM (note, I did have to send multiple queries to finally get them to answer the question...but that is typical in my experience):
Hello ________,
I will be happy to assist you with your inquiry about the
signup bonus for the Hyatt Credit card.
_______, I apologize for the previous responses not
addressing your concern.
I would like to share that the World of Hyatt card signup
bonus is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers
of any Hyatt Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of
any Hyatt Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus
within the last 24 months.
Matthew, I see that you have received a signup bonus of
5,000 points to add the first authorized user on your
account ending in XXXX on your Feburary 26, 2017
statement. Therefore, you will not be eligible to
receive a signup bonus for 24 months or until after
February 26, 2019. However, you will only be eligible for
an offer that is current at the time of approval and those
offers change from time to time. You can check out the
most current offers, compare cards, view terms, and apply
online at creditcards.chase.com. I appreciate your
understanding in this matter.
We appreciate your business and thank you for being a
Chase customer.
Thank you,
Irima
