I too was excited with Citi Prestige. I wonder if existing reservations are affected? Or just no 4th night free + Prive bookings going forward...

It would cause a major fit in many people's parts, mine included if they changed existing bookings. I would imagine they'll honor existing ones before the change.

Just made a reservation thru Citi for 4th night at a Hyatt. Unknown to me, agent used Prive rate. I called Hyatt to apply DSU and was told that I could not because it was Prive rate.
I called back to Citi was told that what DarkLord925 stated that the 4th night cannot be used with the Prive rate.

So Globalist beware of booking the 4th night with Citi. If you are planning on using a DSU.

I see zero reason a dsu can't be used on Prive rates. The 4th night free from Citi has nothing to do with Hyatt or a dsu.

You would think I am would a seasoned enough to know better then to trust an agent. She claimed to be a supervisor........ silly me. After confirming with Citi that the reservation had nothing to to do with Prive, I called Hyatt again and had the DSU applied. 2 hours later I have a suite and my 4th night free.

Spoke to Citi Earlier This Week

Agent said that Hyatt and Citi are working on something. It may not be Prive but could be close. Obviously take with a grain of salt because who knows what will happen and I was taken to the proverbial “agent.” On related note, she said that Citi concierge has a special relationship with Ritz Carlton called Ritz STARS. I’ve heard about it before but didn’t know much. Agent said you pay the regular room rate (no discounts) and get VIP treatment, room upgrades breakfast, personalized experience etc. (might be a mix of benefits). Not sure if exact details, but in case anyone was interested. Eligible for 4th night free.

Just to provide some additional info here (I am a Prive agent).
A) You can use a DSU or points to upgrade to a club room or suite but it may take a few attempts as most Hyatt CS staff I have spoken to do not know the program (your travel advisor should do this for you if they are worth using)
B) Prive occasionally has offers like 4th night free that are not openly available; thus potentially, the fourth night free could be from a Prive offer not Citi
C) Prive rates are 99% time the same as the standard rate - you cannot combine with the member rate

Ritz Carlton stars generally offers a personalised welcome amenity (rather than a personalised experience).

There seems to be a lot of confusion at the Citi Prestige Concierge about the Prive rate. If I understand correctly, those booking the prive rate can request an upgrade once booked through the TA and get a response within 24 hours. When I asked about this they said that the upgrade can only be requested 24 hours in advance of the stay--which is pretty much worse than globalist benefits. Am I confused?
This was booked before this new restriction was placed.... I just don't understand why it should matter. I can't imagine many foregoing the 4th night free to get instead the prive rate. Why did they even bother with prive if they were going to do that?
