Anyone know now if they have an outdoor pool?
5 pools in total according to the press release. Old Revel had an outdoor pool which doubled as a location for day parties during the summer. Don't recall if they have additional outdoor pools and/or if they are adding another one.

Their instagram posted a June 28 opening date, but it's not appearing on the Hyatt site. Their website looks like it's been updated and you can call to book rooms.

Property now appears on the Hyatt website, and a random date booking for mid August appears slightly cheaper than booking through the Ocean Resort website due to not charging certain AC related fees perhaps? It did not appear to be able to be booked on points at this time. Note, I didn't try logging in to my account though (only Discoverist through credit card).

For a random Saturday in July, they are quoting 6,000 points plus $75. That is not bad at all for a Saturday.

Trip report

Just checked out after a one night stay. The hotel itself had its opening to the public Thursday.

I booked a stay through Hyatt using a Cat 1-4 explorist certificate. That wasn’t easy as I called Hyatt to book it and the resort wasn’t showing on their system. So while on the phone I booked a cash and points night on my own and then the person switched it for me through my account. All in all good deal considering the asking rate was over $400.

Got there around 1PM Friday and went to check in not expecting luck considering it was day #2. Was told the entire network was down due to a Comcast outage and to try later. Went down to get a players club card (about an hour wait) then came back to try and check in again - same thing as system was still down. Killled time til around 3:30 or so then went back to the lobby where the line snaked way back. There is an elite line but it’s only for Globalist and Casino Black Card holders. There is nothing for Explorist. It took almost 40 minutes to check in. Got a standard room on the 9th floor which was decent. Rooms are nice.

It was 90 degrees so I went to check out the pool. Turns out the pools are closed. Was told varying stories from “the filters being broken” to “we are waiting for state approval”. Regardless- no pool and today as of check out, the pools still weren’t open. I will say, they didn’t look clean either. Definitely black stuff/algae or dirt visibly present in the water so I don’t know when they will be up and running.

Other things related to Hyatt explorist benefits besides no dedicated check in line:
No bottle water in the room despite being told there would be. WiFi you need to hunt someone down for a password. Late check out I didn’t try but was told “call in the morning and ask to see if it’s being offered”.

Check out was another wait. Lines were long around 10 am with a mix of people trying to check in early and check out. After 20 minutes a manager came out and said no check ins until at least 2 which sped things up. When I checked out, I asked about the pools and they waived the resort charge. A lot of people were not happy who were checking out.

All in all it is a nice property but clearly not ready to be opened. Ton of people working handing out maps and things but it was just unorganized. Where the hotel needed staff to move crowds there just wasn’t enough. Even the restaurants which had opened Monday for “soft opening” had limited menus. The property itself is really nice and a good deal on Hyatt points. Just not worth the headache.

Long story short - don’t rush over to this place yet. They have a lot of kinks to work out.

Just booked tonight a room for July 14th with 12k points. Cash carry was the same still 6k plus $75 for Sat night. I was in the Ocean Casino earlier today place is nice def. If you haven't did a WOH to M Life tier match you can use that M Life Pearl next store at Hard Rock to snatch up a comp room Sun to Thurs or M Life Gold for two comp nights.

If you do M Life Peal, you can first match to Hard Rock Elite and then match to Ocean Resort Platinum fyi, Planning to do that with the wife when I visit mid August (and hopefully the kinks will be worked out and more restaurants and the Starbucks will open by then). Not bad for simply having the Hyatt credit card.

I'm down in the area near Atlantic City I'm going to attempt this tonight or tomorrow and see what happens! Do you think Hard Rock will re tier match me in a few months once I hit M Life Gold?

I was there Saturday to Monday. I've written one blog post so far - The Good, The Bad, the Ugly.

to answer the question about the pools, there are basically two pools, one indoors one outdoors. however, the outdoor pool area and lounge chairs were too crowded to even consider swimming there.

I should be posting more photos on my blog in another day or two. In the meantime, feel free to ask questions.

Hard Rock ends tier matching September 3, whereas Ocean Resort continues it through the end of September, so if you hit Gold before those cut off dates, you should be able to match to higher status at each casino.

I did the tier match yesterday.successfully.

M Life Pearl match to Hard Rock Elite. Hard Rock was $50 free play, comp room and buffet voucher. Walked over to Ocean went to the box office not card members since the line at the box office was way shorter more of a quiet second location to sign up. Ocean no questions asked Platinum 3rd tier with $50 free play, comp room and lounge access.

Now if you go to Hard Rock with a M Life Gold card you get Rock card top tier that auto matches to Ocean black not sure what the room offers are on that.

While were taking about this a M Life Gold can also match Chairman card at Golden Nugget.

Does anyone know how the globalist being treated as a black card holder works? Apparently globs will be treated as black card holders. Does anyone know if we get lounge access/if we'll get a black card? Is there a limit on the breakfast? I also wonder if the hotel will make us pay the taxes if we use the annual certificate or full points stay here. Generally with the comp nights at the other casinos in AC, you need to pay for the taxes and resort fees (if applicable). I wonder how the Ocean Resort will treat these certificates. Assuming no one tried to ask for the 4pm check out yet. I have a feeling they will deny this benefit.
