We just booked clients at the Grand Hyatt Bali, in a standard room through Prive and got a confirmed to a Club Executive Suite. And prior to that, we booked a client in a standard room at the Andaz San Diego and they were upgraded to a Star Suite (the largest suite on the property). So Prive bookings definitely do get favored when it comes to upgrades/suite upgrades.
Can you use pts to upgrade to a suite or premium suite on a Prive reservation!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you can. Prive reservations are just like regular Hyatt reservations. My advice would be to try to get the upgrade first without using points, and then use them as a back-up if you don't get the upgrade you want.

The statement above “first try to get the upgrade without using points” leads me to believe that there is some confusion about the premium suite upgrades. Those suites will typically not be available as complimentary upgrades.

I really do not think the two are compatible. The 9,000 point upgrade needs to be booked directly with Hyatt reservations, specifically at the Hyatt Daily Rate. Even more expensive packages like breakfast included or double points do not qualify.

Ok, I have I question. I pay for all my rooms myself (no corporate travel or corporate rates). I'm globalist (comped, not earned, but I'll earn it this year)
I book all my rooms directly through the Hyatt web site. Other than the occasional email promo code (eg, the recent 20% off Hawaii one) I am paying the member rate. Usually I book the cheapest room and hope for an upgrade. Usually I get a bigger room ("deluxe"), sometimes I get a suite... but not always of course.
If I went through a Privé agent instead... would I still be paying the same rate? Or are member rates ineligible? Because, if so, it seems like I should just go through this, get my 1-level upgrade when possible, and then I'm still eligible for a suite upgrade at check in... right? And still all the other globalist benefits (waived resort/destination fees, breakfast, club access, 4pm checkout, 30% pts bonus, etc etc). It's still an "eligible rate" as defined by the WoH ToS, right?

The upgrade within 24hr is nice. If I book the cheapest room, I can get upgraded to a "deluxe" (or whatever) room immediately. If a standard suite is available at check-in, I can still get it. If not, I get a better room than I might have otherwise.
The welcome amenity is nice (though, many of the nicer Hyatts give this to globalists anyway, despite not being required to... so this one is probably redundant)
At Hyatts with a club, the ability to get restaurant breakfast instead of the club breakfast can be a big bonus. The club breakfasts are often not that good (although, some are AMAZING -- but many are terrible. I often choose to pay to go to a restaurant than eat what they are serving at the club)
The $50 or $100 credit is... well, a $50 or $100 credit. Pretty clear what that's worth.
If all this is available at the same rate that I'm currently paying, it's a no-brainer. If the member rate is a significant discount over the standard rate, and Prive is not available at the member rate, then I can decide on a case-by-case basis. The hotel credit will often wipe out any difference anyway.
So, if, even as globalist, I have to go through an agent to get this, then I'll go through an agent to get it.

As a Hyatt Privé agent and Globalist member, I'd like to share my two cents. In many cases the member rate is only fractionally below the standard (best available) rate, which is the rate Hyatt Prive mirrors. On a short stay, the member rate might save $10 a night, but if I book the Hyatt Prive (at the standard rate) I could get $100 in credit + confirmed room upgrade + welcome gift + breakfast in club hotels - it's a no-brainer! For longer stays, many Hyatt Prive hotels offer a 3rd or 4th night free - that is only available when booking through a Hyatt Prive agent - so that creates even better value.
I have many Globalist clients too that much prefer booking through Prive than direct. If you have any further questions feel free to ask!
