If you want to earn miles instead of points, it has to be done at check in. There is no way to select one or the other in your account. The default is Hyatt points and in more than 30 years of Hyatt stays, I've never had anyone ask if I wanted to earn miles instead of points.

They didn't ask. I could have asked for miles and got the extra 500 but I wasn't sure if would affect the 500 Hyatt point bonus per night - which also posted. My 3 night award stay earned 1K AA, 1500 Hyatt bonus (3*500) and 3 nights toward status

Pleasant surprise for me. We checked out of Hyatt Place Mesa, AZ after a three night free stay. I spent. $6.50.
Base points: 33
Globalist 30% bonus: 10
Q1 Global promotion: 1500
"Promotion is to award registered members 1000 American Airline bonus miles per stay when choosing points or miles at Hyatt": 1000
Not sure whether that means I'm not getting any AA miles (I requested 500 points, 1000 AA miles) but, at any rate, 2543 points for a free stay and $6.50 spent is pretty good. I had forgotten about the other promo.

I checked out of a Hyatt Place for a two-night stay, two days ago. The points posted to my account. However, I received NEITHER the 500 points per night (Morepoints Promo) nor the 1000 AA miles (Go Farther promo). I'm registered for both promotions. Have other nice FT members also seen qualifying stays which received no points? One strange thing about the checkout is that they charged Room Rate Only (no tax), which probably means that someone at the front desk mis-keyed the info.

I’m an Explorist and I registered for this promo. If a Globalist books me a Guest of Honor room at a Hyatt House, will either of us get the 1,000 AA points, the 500 bonus Hyatt points from the Q1 promo, and the status nights? If so, who?
