WOH 20 Nights Promo NOT Valid for Existing Globalists???

I accepted this offer and booked 20 nights from Sept - Dec 30.

Guess what? They just told me I'm NOT eligible! Have any existing GLOBS re-qualified with this promo?

There was nothing in the fine print that said existing Globalists aren't eligible (I checked before I signed up)

This is what I was just sent:

Dear XXXXXXX,

Greetings from World of Hyatt!

On reviewing your account, I could see that you are already a Globalist, please note this promotion is not valid for members who are already a Globalist. We value the loyalty of our Globalist members. The full benefits of the Globalist tier status is reserved for these members. This promotion is a special offer being provided to all Hyatt Credit cardholders, we believe this provides enhanced benefit opportunities for our credit cardholders. The Globalist tier status for this offer does not include all of the benefits that are awarded to members that complete the 60 night stay criteria. I apologize for the inconvience caused to you.

Please let me know if nay further assistance is required.

Best Regards,

(Xxx xxxx)

The table at the bottom of the sign-up page specifically mentions "Globalists with tier expiration in February 2018" as being eligible for the promotion.

See here: https://world.hyatt.com/content/gp/e...ckqualify.html

I would send a message to 'World of Hyatt Concierge' here on Flyertalk. I also had problems signing up for the promo and, after prodding them a bit since they first got back to me with a generic "we cannot sign you up" response, they were eventually able to escalate the case and get me signed up.

Were you targeted? You should be eligible if you are targeted.

The promotion is valid only for Hyatt Credit Cardmembers in good standing who receive this promotional offer from Hyatt and register for the promotion between August 28, 2017 and September 30, 2017.........

Wow, that is a face stomp for sure.

I just checked my email that titles "You're Registered!..."

And I quote (and emphasis is mine)

"Terms and Conditions

The promotion is valid only for Hyatt Credit Cardmembers in good standing who receive this promotional offer from Hyatt and register for the promotion between August 28, 2017 and September 30, 2017. To qualify for this offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. A Hyatt Credit Cardmember may earn Explorist or Globalist status in the World of Hyatt program through February 2019 by completing a specified number of Tier-Qualifying Nights (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms, available at worldofhyatt.com/terms.) at any participating Hyatt hotel or resort worldwide. Only stays completed between September 1, 2017 and December 30, 2017 (“Qualification Period”) will be eligible for this promotion. To qualify for Globalist status, member must complete twenty (20) Tier-Qualifying Nights during the Qualification Period. To qualify for Explorist status, member must complete ten (10) Tier-Qualifying Nights during the Qualification Period. To earn credit towards this offer, member must check out of a reservation during the Qualification Period. If member checks into a reservation during the Qualification Period, but does not check out until after the Qualification Period has ended, (s)he will not earn credit towards this offer for any nights stayed as part of that reservation. Stays completed by member prior to the start of the Qualification Period will not count towards this offer (even if any night stayed otherwise qualifies as a “Tier-Qualifying Night” for purposes of the World of Hyatt program.)

Qualification Period may not be extended. If member earns a new elite status through this offer, his/her new status will be applied within 7 business days of checkout of the stay during which (s)he completes the applicable requirement. If a member has already earned a particular elite status in 2017, satisfying the above-described criteria to earn that same tier (or any lower tier) will not result in any extension of the member’s elite status or other benefit to the member.

Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this offer at any time without notice. This offer is subject to the complete terms and conditions of the World of Hyatt program, available at worldofhyatt.com/terms. "

Now, I would interpret that bolded statement as you can't earn a status you already have, not, this offer is only for new explorists/globalists and not for requalification.

The email OP posted states that he was denied because he is currently a Globalist -- not because he was not targeted.

As a data point, I learned about this offer through Flyertalk and did not receive a targeted email. I signed up for the Hyatt card half-way through the month, and, despite a few hiccups, they escalated it to "management level" who eventually did confirm my eligibility and sign me up for the promo.

Since you're already top tier, you should have a concierge. If you actually do, what does he or she have to say?

Yeah, well, that table is clear as can be (clearer than the language I bolded above).

I don't think you have the correct interpretation here. The table in the link above clearly states that if you've already earned Globalist through February 2018, you can earn it through February 2019 using this promo. I think that the bolded part of the T&Cs is meant to be interpreted as "If you've already earned status in 2017, valid through February 2019, then we won't extend your status to 2020 just by satisfying the promo requirements for the same level that you are already at."

I didn't receive a 'targetted email either', but I registered nonetheless and got a confirmation of being registered.

I think my lack of promo email is more tied to the fact that I had my email preferences with my profile set to not send me any promo emails (I just found that out yesterday).

Yes I agree. The Table is clear as can be, and given the ambiguity of the language, I think the Table should triumph. I was just looking for anything in the terms that could be interpreted in any way.

Yes, I was targeted - received the email and registered as a result. I DID NOT learn abou this because of Flyertalk or any other website.

I assumed that Hyatt realized they were losing a lot of good customers (like me) because of the stupid WOH changes. This is why I decided to take advantage of their offer.

Seems like you just got a clueless rep response. The terms clearly indicate the promo is valid for all cardmembers, regardless of status.

The bolded is your answer. Are you a Hyatt CC member? Did you earn status in calendar year 2017? If you're answers are Yes + No then you're eligible.

Based upon the employees name and the spelling of 'centre' (and my numerous experiences of dealing with certain SPG teams) I'd suggest you attempt speaking with a rep onshore.....

Just spoke with Globalist Elite Agent and, after consulting with a supervisor, she informed me that current Globalists, such as myself, are specifically EXCLUDED from participating in this promotion notwithstanding their having been targeted and/or successfully registered. How Worse can World of Hyatt possibly get?

What a joke of a company. The chart is clear, and the terms were also clear. If this is true, we have been defrauded: literally lied to in effort to get our money. I have spent thousands of dollars as a result of "accepting" this offer and receiving a response saying I was registered.

Absolutely disgusting.
