World of Hyatt - No Night Credit if you Check-in After Midnight?

I'm a Glob. I doubt I'll requalify this year, but there's a slim chance.

As I mentioned in another thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...ia-points.html) my best chance is via base points.

But, nevertheless, since it's relatively early in the year, I'll still work on my nights. You never know.

So this week, I had a last-minute situation that required me to end up somewhere very late. Naturally, I looked for Hyatts nearby. Found one, called. Got a room. Checked-in probably at about 3 AM.

Slept (Hyatt Place San Jose - not great, frankly) and left.

No night credit. Points, yes. But no night.

I inquire. I would have had to check-in before midnight to have gotten night credit.

Amazing.

Hyatt really doesn't want me to make it either way. I guess my business is bad for business.

I hear ya, Hyatt!

Was that the reply from the hotel or from customer service?

What happens if you have a multi-night stay and check in after midnight?

Perhaps in the World of Hyatt you are expected to get a good night of sleep and thus be in bed by 9pm.

From the Global Contact Centre:

Thank you for contacting World of Hyatt.

I understand the importance of your concern. However, please note that in order to receive the qualified night for your stay, member should check-in before the 12 midnight. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience it causes.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any other assistance with your World of Hyatt account.
Seems insane. Gotta be plenty of business people who check-in after meetings and a late dinner.

Maybe this specialist was mistaken?

I have been to several destinations where flights arrive close to midnight and my checkin is after midnight.

I have also been on delayed flights that caused me to arrive late.

As a Globalist you should raise a stink with your personal rep. (whatever they are called nowadays). This is just ridiculous.

Call. If you get this answer, HUCA (hang up, call again).

Unfreakingbelievable. I can't burn all of my Hyatt points fast enough. I may have to change from C+P to just straight award stays.

Shocking. If I want a curfew, I'll go to a youth hostel instead of a Hyatt hotel and save tons of money. Even if you plan to arrive early, things can go wrong such as delayed flights, bad traffic jams, etc. beyond one's control. It's really nice of Hyatt to punish customers in such cases, when the guest is especially likely to arrive at the property exhausted, frazzled, and starving.

This seems to be a new feature of WOH (or whoa) versus HGP. I know I received night/stay credit at least once during HGP, perhaps about two years ago, for an airport hotel arrival around 3 am. There were other problems with checking in then, despite my confirmed reservation and Diamond status, but I did get night/stay credit for that one short night at a HP (which I can fortunately now avoid).

Yeah - never had this issue in my SPG days (which feel like where I'm headed).

I'll push back via email and see where I get. I really hate the phone calls.

Thats weird - I've checked in many times (this year even) after 1am or 2am and got night credits. You might want to call again, because that seems like an erroneous answer.

Hopefully it's just another case of phone agents making up stuff when they can't answer a question or don't know how to do something that's part of their job. Whatever happened to the idea of people finding the answer to something they don't know?

Just to be clear - it was by email, as quoted above.

On Hyatt.com, I show this:

Eligible Night(s): 0
Not sure what would explain this besides the answer given, but I did ask again via email.

It's interesting that a Hyatt representative would announce such a rule via private email, not only because it doesn't seem to appear anywhere in the T&C for WOH but also because when agents are wrong, they're usually unwilling to document that fact.

ADDED: Is there any hope of contacting the HGP representative here or has that team ceased to participate on FT? If this were SPG, one could easily appeal to a Lurker to get the problem corrected.

That is appalling! They do seem to be emphasizing customer DISservice much more nowadays.

In the olden Golden days the would have jumped in right away to correct or clarify.

In the new world of Hyatt they are lurking only. Last online 9:4am today. Last post: March 31.

I had a 4 night stay April 25-29 on p+c (arrived well before midnight) also showing as 0 eligible nights, so this could be another hyatt it issue and a mistaken rep. I'm awaiting response in why I had 0 eligible nights

It's an IT issue that when the property has reset the system for the day (anytime during the night) and you then check in (or you have already checked out) that you miss the night.... has been happening for years, so not really a WOH issue. and something you should be able to get fixed by contacting the property.

I encountered it a few times myself when I had a late flight and payed for an extra night but checked out at 23:00-01:00.
