This thread is for the World of Hyatt Globalist members to share the experience of room (suite in particular) upgrades members receive at various Hyatt hotels and resorts. This is not about the suite upgrade by using TSU (Tier Suite Upgrade) certificate. All WoH members receive two (2) Tier Suite Upgrade (Suite Upgrade Awards) certificates by reaching 50 Qualifying Nights or 80,000 Base Points Milestone Awards. By reaching 60 Qualifying Nights or 100,000 Base Points Milestone Awards, all WoH members also received two (2) additional Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) to a total of four (2) Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) each year. By earning the last Milestone Awards, the WoH member also reaches WoH Globalist status and receive other elite benefits.
By using the TSU awards, the suite upgrade (to standard suite) can be confirmed at booking or any other time before check-in. Most likely only standard suite can be confirmed. Without using the TSU awards, room upgrade normally can't be confirmed.

(c) Best Room Available: Globalists will receive the best room available at the time of check-in at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including Standard Suites and rooms with Club lounge-access. The best room available will be determined by the applicable hotel or resort in its sole discretion and may vary from stay-to-stay. The “best room” may, but will not necessarily be, of a room type/category higher than that booked by the Member. Best-room-available benefit includes only Standard Suites (where available), which are defined as rooms within each participating hotel’s or resort’s introductory suite category. Premium, Specialty, Premier, Presidential, Diplomatic, and other suites other than Standard Suites are not included in this benefit. Not valid at Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Destination Residences, or Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts.
Some Hyatt properties will automatically recognize WoH elite status and inform member about the room upgrade opportunity. If room upgrade is not mentioned at check-in time, then member needs to request at check-in time or any other time before room is assigned.
Small Luxury Hotels does not recognize most of the WoH elite benefits. So often, room (suite) upgrade is declined.

HR Perth - May 2017 / 3 nights (Given base room, even though suites and river view rooms were avail)
HR Santa Clara - March 2017 / 3 nights (balcony king showed avail)
Hyatt Centric French Quarter - 2 nights March 2017
Hyatt London Churchill over 3 stays in May, June and July - not offered, suites avail to book, given small room
HR Osaka - April 2019, 2 nights
* Available on hyatt.com may/may not equate to room actually being available in the event the hotel was overselling room and/or already "soft"-allocated the room to another Globalist.

Booked standard room at Hyatt Regency Indian Wells. They upgraded us to a room on the Regency Club floor.
I asked if there were any suites available and they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom villa....nice.

Friend of mine arrived at GH Shenzen 2/28 for a 7-10 day trip. Had a 2/27/17 expiration DSU that went to wencoura
On 3/1 I encouraged him to look at suite availability on Hyatt app, and ask front desk mgr. for a room change. Success. Huge suite with no DSU needed.
It's worth mentioning that many are reporting success on this forum this week... but keep in mind that suite availability is artificially high for Mar2017 because nobody had DSU 2017 upgrades that they could confirm until this week.

I've had 12 stays here and my upgrade on 2 occasions was a "view" room which is a total joke. Staff are pretty friendly and the renovation looks great - really like the rooms.

Booked last minute reservation at HR Orange County in standard king. Checked in and was provided an upgrade to a suite with bunk beds (kids suite). I was travelling for business and no kids, but at least it was provided without asking. I do not really care about getting an upgrade for a suite when traveling for business, but it was nice to see that it was "automatic" (due to availability) even at last minute.
Just to a note - There are a decent amount of suites here, so not too difficult to get an upgrade here in the past as a diamond.

Hyatt Regency Sydney - no upgrade.
Was booked March 4 for one night and arrived only on March 5 to use my room for half a day.
All three Suite types available for both March 4 and 5. Was offered a Club Room.
They have almost 50 Suites at this property - poor show.

Arrived at this property on Sunday March 5 for a 1 night stay. Was offered an upgrade but not a suite. I explained politely that the new rules should be applied. Duty manager appeared and suite was duly provided. The regency lounge at this property is seriously nice. Would have reviewed the property but it does not yet appear in the index. Might be something an Admin might look at.
