This thread is for the World of Hyatt Globalist members to share the experience of room (suite in particular) upgrades members receive at various Hyatt hotels and resorts. This is not about the suite upgrade by using TSU (Tier Suite Upgrade) certificate. All WoH members receive two (2) Tier Suite Upgrade (Suite Upgrade Awards) certificates by reaching 50 Qualifying Nights or 80,000 Base Points Milestone Awards. By reaching 60 Qualifying Nights or 100,000 Base Points Milestone Awards, all WoH members also received two (2) additional Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) to a total of four (2) Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) each year. By earning the last Milestone Awards, the WoH member also reaches WoH Globalist status and receive other elite benefits.
By using the TSU awards, the suite upgrade (to standard suite) can be confirmed at booking or any other time before check-in. Most likely only standard suite can be confirmed. Without using the TSU awards, room upgrade normally can't be confirmed.

(c) Best Room Available: Globalists will receive the best room available at the time of check-in at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including Standard Suites and rooms with Club lounge-access. The best room available will be determined by the applicable hotel or resort in its sole discretion and may vary from stay-to-stay. The “best room” may, but will not necessarily be, of a room type/category higher than that booked by the Member. Best-room-available benefit includes only Standard Suites (where available), which are defined as rooms within each participating hotel’s or resort’s introductory suite category. Premium, Specialty, Premier, Presidential, Diplomatic, and other suites other than Standard Suites are not included in this benefit. Not valid at Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Destination Residences, or Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts.
Some Hyatt properties will automatically recognize WoH elite status and inform member about the room upgrade opportunity. If room upgrade is not mentioned at check-in time, then member needs to request at check-in time or any other time before room is assigned.
Small Luxury Hotels does not recognize most of the WoH elite benefits. So often, room (suite) upgrade is declined.

Using one of your TSU's on the points awards is your only option... otherwise there's zero chance in getting a suite for 5 consecutive nights at this property that only has a few suites.

Grand Hyatt Seoul - was upgraded to suite (entry level) for a two night stay this past weekend. I had asked the e-concierge about the possibility of an upgrade when she emailed me prior to the trip to ask if they could help. When i asked about the upgrade she indicated it was noted but would depend on availability. Hotel was pretty full with families and others so not sure what the impact of that was.

HR Bloomington Minneapoli.
3 night stay. Booked room with 2 beds. Got assigned king bed although profile shows 2 bed preference. Requested switch to 2 beds. Got room 802. Generously sized room.
it was 2am when checking in, tired after 22 hours of travel, so did not discuss globalist upgrade situation. The assigned king bed room may have been a suite. But happy with the large room.

GH New York (grand central) - club room. No suites were available.
HR Amsterdam - upgraded to a king corner deluxe club. Only 1 suite was available at checkin on the app but staff said that it was blocked. No big loss as the suite is only slightly larger than the room I got.

In room 802 and believe it was a Grand Executive suite.
By the way the Club was packed at night but relatively quiet before 8 am in the morning.

Everybody in Korea buys club rooms for the free mealtimes and drinks. It's also the Korean vacation period. Don't know if you used the pool but I'm sure both were crazy.

It was over the weekend so that would also contribute.
Pool was pretty full and many of the lounge chairs--lots of kids. But it didn't look too bad. I was able to watch from my room.

All base Executive Suites were fully booked, was upgraded to next tier with the corner unit of the Terrace Suites w/Marina Views on a 2 night stay earlier this month. ^ Very nice indeed, and much appreciated, as we were not hopeful due to capacity constraints that week-end.

Asked about Globalist upgrade and was told that none of the upgrade suites were available but that I could buy-up to a suite for $150- per night. Note that they wouldn't even upgrade me into the "Large King" room.
I am not a beggar, so I hassled them no further, but this certainly leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.
