This thread is for the World of Hyatt Globalist members to share the experience of room (suite in particular) upgrades members receive at various Hyatt hotels and resorts. This is not about the suite upgrade by using TSU (Tier Suite Upgrade) certificate. It is discussed in a separate thread. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-world-hyatt/1825293-world-hyatt-globalist-experiences-tier-suite-upgrades.html

All WoH members receive two (2) Tier Suite Upgrade (Suite Upgrade Awards) certificates by reaching 50 Qualifying Nights or 80,000 Base Points Milestone Awards. By reaching 60 Qualifying Nights or 100,000 Base Points Milestone Awards, all WoH members also received two (2) additional Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) to a total of four (2) Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) each year. By earning the last Milestone Awards, the WoH member also reaches WoH Globalist status and receive other elite benefits.

By using the TSU awards, the suite upgrade (to standard suite) can be confirmed at booking or any other time before check-in. Most likely only standard suite can be confirmed. Without using the TSU awards, room upgrade normally can't be confirmed.

According to WoH membership terms, https://help.hyatt.com/en/hyatt-terms/world-of-hyatt-terms.html?icamp=woh_benefitbadges_terms#/VC

(c) Best Room Available: Globalists will receive the best room available at the time of check-in at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including Standard Suites and rooms with Club lounge-access. The best room available will be determined by the applicable hotel or resort in its sole discretion and may vary from stay-to-stay. The “best room” may, but will not necessarily be, of a room type/category higher than that booked by the Member. Best-room-available benefit includes only Standard Suites (where available), which are defined as rooms within each participating hotel’s or resort’s introductory suite category. Premium, Specialty, Premier, Presidential, Diplomatic, and other suites other than Standard Suites are not included in this benefit. Not valid at Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Destination Residences, or Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts.

Some Hyatt properties will automatically recognize WoH elite status and inform member about the room upgrade opportunity. If room upgrade is not mentioned at check-in time, then member needs to request at check-in time or any other time before room is assigned.

Small Luxury Hotels does not recognize most of the WoH elite benefits. So often, room (suite) upgrade is declined.

Two night stay this week, no suite offered (I'm Diamond), but checking inventory online I see none are available for sell.

Well, of course you weren't offered a suite. This is a perk for Globalists, not Diamonds.

To update the 3rd night got moved to the govensor suite. Now that is a nice suite at the ph mendoza. Very impressed with the service.

Grand Hyatt Seoul: checked availability outside the hotel before checking in and there were suites available, went to front desk, was given a standard room, queried it and was informed "it's a club floor, we're sold out". I showed the hotel website with the search and availability, and was informed "we're sold out on Tuesday". Did the search again in front of the Front Desk Manager, and was met with a blank stare and the same response "we're sold out".

They're tight aka horrible with upgrades. All I ever got was high floor, corner room.

Grand Hyatt Fukuoka.

2 night stay with one bed size category upgrade. Paid for a base Queen and got a King. This hotel probably has the worst Diamond/Globalist treatment in Asia.

Reminds me of Nigel Tufnel's, "But these go to eleven".

Hyatt Regency Hangzhou

Booked 2 separate 1 night at mid-year sale rates. Preassigned Regency Club room with view of West Lake. According to room map, there is only 1 Presidential Suite on the 8th floor where the Club is located. So this was as good as I can expect.

GRAND HYATT TOKYO

1 night, booked grand king, asked Globalist upgrade in advance by e-mail.

Upon check-in, was offerd deluxe king, but late ckeck out was not available for delux king. So I got back grand king(=lowest).

Deluxe, corner deluxe, exective suite were available on Hyatt.com.

GH Tokyo certainly is in the running for worst Hyatt in Asia for upgrades.

HR O'Hare:
Booked one night at the C+P rate (4K points + $55). I was proactively upgraded to the VIP suite (before check-in)!

They've been very good about upgrades in the past (usually asking at check-in), but this was my first time in this suite. It was huge!
https://ohare.regency.hyatt.com/en/h...ms/suites.html

1600 sf.
Three separate rooms (doors between)
Bedroom, with a King bed, reclined padded chair, TV.
Sitting Room (huge couch, TV)
Lounge Room - one huge couch facing a big TV, plus two other couches, the kitchen area, bar area, bathroom.

My kids were just astounded at the room (and they've stayed in a number of suites at GH/HR around the US).

Honestly, they've been so good about upgrades that I will stay here over almost any other O'Hare hotel as long as there isn't too big of a price difference.

Do you mean to say their loyalty program has actually created loyalty when they follow the spirit of the program?

Amazing concept.

Wow, this is nearly the exact script that I got in Tokyo last week! I love the blank stares you get--it's as if you've shown them a fake website and are some kind of hacker. They really try to make you feel guilty, like you are trying to scam them.

In addition, I am now 0 for 10 (10 different properties) on trying to use a TSU so far this year. This is becoming very frustrating.

I am pushing more and more of my business to Starriott.

Same here. I'm fortunate that my favored hotels give me suites without prompting but still disillusioned by the WOH changes.
