This thread is for the World of Hyatt Globalist members to share the experience of room (suite in particular) upgrades members receive at various Hyatt hotels and resorts. This is not about the suite upgrade by using TSU (Tier Suite Upgrade) certificate. It is discussed in a separate thread. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-world-hyatt/1825293-world-hyatt-globalist-experiences-tier-suite-upgrades.html

All WoH members receive two (2) Tier Suite Upgrade (Suite Upgrade Awards) certificates by reaching 50 Qualifying Nights or 80,000 Base Points Milestone Awards. By reaching 60 Qualifying Nights or 100,000 Base Points Milestone Awards, all WoH members also received two (2) additional Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) to a total of four (2) Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) each year. By earning the last Milestone Awards, the WoH member also reaches WoH Globalist status and receive other elite benefits.

By using the TSU awards, the suite upgrade (to standard suite) can be confirmed at booking or any other time before check-in. Most likely only standard suite can be confirmed. Without using the TSU awards, room upgrade normally can't be confirmed.

According to WoH membership terms, https://help.hyatt.com/en/hyatt-terms/world-of-hyatt-terms.html?icamp=woh_benefitbadges_terms#/VC

(c) Best Room Available: Globalists will receive the best room available at the time of check-in at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including Standard Suites and rooms with Club lounge-access. The best room available will be determined by the applicable hotel or resort in its sole discretion and may vary from stay-to-stay. The “best room” may, but will not necessarily be, of a room type/category higher than that booked by the Member. Best-room-available benefit includes only Standard Suites (where available), which are defined as rooms within each participating hotel’s or resort’s introductory suite category. Premium, Specialty, Premier, Presidential, Diplomatic, and other suites other than Standard Suites are not included in this benefit. Not valid at Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Destination Residences, or Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts.

Some Hyatt properties will automatically recognize WoH elite status and inform member about the room upgrade opportunity. If room upgrade is not mentioned at check-in time, then member needs to request at check-in time or any other time before room is assigned.

Small Luxury Hotels does not recognize most of the WoH elite benefits. So often, room (suite) upgrade is declined.

Also a standard pre-WOH upgrade at this property (which you probably know if you've stayed there before).

Both exactly right. So far I'm doing about the same as a Globalist as I was doing as a Diamond, except that I don't get the 1000 in-lieu-of-amenity points, need to stay 60 nights instead of 50 to requalify, can no longer get 5 or 10 of those nights by spending on the Hyatt credit card, and have to keep a straight face when people thank me for being something called a Globalist.

Globalist suite upgrades not happening. After 30 nights.

I intentionally waited reaching my 30th night under WOH qualification. Sorry. I just don't see the value of busting my you know what to keep Globalist status. Heading to Indianapolis and the JW looks much nicer than the HR. Also is less. At this point after no standard suite upgrades I'm going to press the matter at the front desk with all my future arrivals. From a upgrade point Hyatt is no better than Hilton at this time. Why all this drama have no idea. Shame on Hyatt for not pushing to properties that this benefit is earned and should be extended where possible. I have Indianapolis, San Diego, Vancouver, St Louis and New York before months end. Not at all impressed with the new program. IMHO. Thank you for hearing my vent.

Just had a stay at PH Washington DC for two nights - Fri to Sun where I checked in in the early AM Sat so I wasn't even there Fri. I was "upgraded" to a Jr Suite which I understand is the standard/usual upgrade. There were Park Suites, and a ton of other suites available for purchase both nights. The hotel was not full at all. I wasn't further upgraded. They offered to upgrade me further for a fee.

HR Tokyo, 1 night, upgraded to Regency Executive Suite, one level above entry-level suite. Booked standard King on P+C, was told at checkin that they had prepared a Club King (which was not showing availability on website) but there was a problem with the room and they were upgrading us to the suite.

PH Tokyo, 1 night, upgraded to Park Suite King. Booked standard King on the free night award received on WoH launch in combination with 6 subsequent cash nights using a TSU and they gave us the same suite for the entire stay, which although not guranteed, was not all that surprising.

Just finished 4 nights at the Grand Washington, DC. On check-in, the agent confirmed my reservation for a king bed. I asked if any suites were available and she upgraded me to a Grand Suite. Happy with the upgrade.

Stayed at the Andaz Wall Street this past weekend. Checked in and was upgraded (without asking) to what I'm told was a standard suite there with great 90 degree views (corner suite). Offered and received room service breakfast which was greatly appreciated. Very happy with the experience.

GH Singapore, two nights, upgraded to a basic suite. Very nice. In fact I liked it better than the duplex suite I received the prior stay with a cert, as I never used the downstairs living area.

GH Jakarta, 2-night p&c stay last week. Upgraded to a large and elegant suite on the 20th floor with circle view. (I didn't ask for the upgrade, and it was clear the suite had been allocated to me before check-in because there were a couple of personalized welcome letters there when I entered.) I assumed this was a better-than-basic suite, but Grand Club reception staff told me it's just the entry-level Grand Suite. So I guess there are no unimpressive suites at this hotel.

This week I'm at the GH Erawan Bangkok for a 7-night paid stay so decided to use one of my suite upgrade certificates. I got a large 21st floor (2nd from top) corner suite with panoramic park-city-Central World views. GC staff tell me this is only one level up from a "standard" suite, of which they say there are only four, all on the 11th floor. So it sounds like they've given themselves a lot of flexibility to upgrade or not, whether or not the guest is using a certificate.

PH New York

Redeemed my Globalist free night last night for a night at the PH New York. Requested a room with 2 beds (Mothers Day girls trip with my mom) and was put in a Park Studio double (told its their largest with two beds. No idea if that's true). Was a very large, nicely appointed junior suite. Comped breakfast on day of check in since room wasn't ready (which was a nice touch since it was well before official check in!). Very happy overall

I used my Globalist Tier 1-7 certificate for a one night stay at the PH New York. They proactively upgraded me to a beautiful West Side Suite. Breakfast was offered in the Lounge for 2 or $90 of credit for room service. The room was beautiful, especially the bathroom (there was even a half bath as well). The Le Labo toiletries are my favorite
