That's the difference. The one in Austin is a cash reservation and the other two are points reservations.

Thanks!

Huh, I've never put that together before! But, I can definitely confirm that's the case.

(I have two reservations at Andaz Mayakoba, one on points, one paid, both with TSU applied. The paid reservation shows Beach Area Suite, the points reservation still shows the King room + STEX)

Resort and luxury line to apply DSU now

Called to have dsu applied and was told had to be transferred to the resorts and luxury department to do it. Apparently a new thing. Spent 10 minutes on hold and hung up. Emailed PL rep but when I called back later for something else and asked about it, the second rep confirmed but handled it.

Had this just happen at Miraval Austin. My concierge could not make the reservation. Then the Miraval reservationists sad they do not accept TSU’s. My concierge did straighten that out but all in all booking Miraval for 3 nights was a huge PITA.

Just a couple days ago my My Hyatt Concierge person apparently successfully applied a TSU to confirm a suite in a PH in Asia.

Concierges (via email) are the best most consistent and most accurate way to do it. Plus you get a written “receipt.”

IME you get a new emailed confirmation showing the upgrade, which should also appear when you look at the reservation in your WOH account.

Applied 3 suite upgrade awards to cash reservations in Asia on 3 separate calls over the last 24 hours. Each one was a different experience...

First reservation: Phone agent confirmed suite upgrade and issued email confirmation showing upgraded suite while still on the phone. However, the email confirmation alarmingly showed the full cash rate (standard rate) for the suite - not the originally booked base room. 1 hour after the call, I received a new email confirmation showing the upgraded suite at the original rate for the base room.

Second reservation: Phone agent confirmed suite upgrade and issued email confirmation showing original room type while still on the phone. "Preferences and Policies" section includes "SUITE UPGRADE AWARD", and the "Cancellation Policy" section includes "Additional Information: SUITE UPGRADE CONFIRMED". However, no mention of which suite type - which matters because this property has two types of standard suites. No new emails as of 24 hours later.

Third reservation: Phone agent confirmed suite upgrade, but no email confirmation during call or after. When viewed in the Hyatt app, the reservation shows the original room type with no mention of the suite upgrade anywhere. The agent assured me the upgrade was confirmed and that an "offline team" (perhaps this new resorts and luxury department?) would send me an email confirmation within 72 hours.

You really can't make this stuff up...

I actual have experienced all three types as described. My take:

Type 1 is, mostly for domestic properties, when agent can change room type in system then make rate adjustment.

Type 2 is for international properties.

Type 3 is for international properties when suite can only be confirmed by calling subject property during business hours.

I wish Hyatt has a more consistent process.

I have experienced another option: Requested TSU via MHC and asked for suite with 2 beds. MHC phoned with hotel and a 2nd room was attached to reservation. after multiple back and forth emails to realls confirm, that I have the standard suite with 2 beds and not just a 2nd room attached (e.g. a "hospitality suite").
Reservation is for November only, so can only then report back what I actually got.
hotel is the HR Coconut Point, and the Bay Suite.

Booking a rate plan (some corporate rates, points rates) that doesn't have a filed rate for the suite is when the WOH reservation will forever reflect the standard room and the suite will be blocked only in the local hotel system. In these instance, you've got to stay on top of these reservations and just invent rando reasons to the email the hotel directly and always asking at the end to confirm the suite.

Glad I subscribed to this thread. I made a reservation for Munich Andaz for July some months ago... and my corporate travel system automatically searches for lower rates and like a month after my making the reservation and applying the TSU my company rebooked me at a lower rate. In rebooking me, they canceled my old reservation and created a new one... and my TSU was not transferred/reapplied.

I learned that when this thread prompted me to do a paranoia call to confirm all my future TSU applied reservations for the rest of the year, and caught that one. Luckily the suite is still available so TSU could be reapplied today.
