I reached out to MyHyattConcierge and they confirmed that this change is it retroactive so they will not be extending certificates expiring this summer which really sucks.

Shall we assume that the Cat 1-4 free night (at 30 nights) and the Cat 1-7 free night (at 55 or 60 nights, nobody seems to know for sure) still expire after 6 months?
EDITED TO ADD: Just checked my account, and past award nights (which were valid for 180 days when earned) now show an expiration date of 365 days after the date earned. Kudos to Hyatt!

- Hyatt Visa Cardmember anniversary night ... expires one year after it was deposited ... i.e. no change from previous years
- Cat 1-4 for staying at 5 brands. It was earned on February 3, posted on February, and expires February 5, 2019
- Cat 1-4 for making 30 nights in 2018. The qualifying night was on May 21, the award posted shortly thereafter, and it expires May 22, 2019. This one is a bit strange because I checked out of the hotel on May 24. So the expiration clock starts clicking on the date you EARNED the award, rather than the date the award was posted.
However, on the 5-brands award, expiration is based on the date they POSTED the award. It's completely possible that there was one policy in effect in February and a slightly different one in May. Anyway, although I've never seen an announcement about the change, award nights now expire in one year, which is ten times better than the original WoH policy which had them expire in 120 days.

I am absolutely positive that my award nights now expire one year after earning. Right now I have 3 award nights in my account:

I also had an award for making 30 nights posted into my account. The 30th stay had a checkout date of 28.May. The Cat 1-4 free night award was posted to my account on 01.Jun (could have been a day before, but I only checked my account on 01.Jun), and the expiry date of this award is 25.Nov.2018.
