Top 50 Guest - Preferences Request

Select Hyatt hotels have provided various welcome amenities (even though I generally selected points as welcome amenity) during stays over the years, but I do not recall receiving a "formal" email request for preferences.

Here is the excerpt:

"Thank you for our loyalty and for being one of our Top 50 Guests. As one of our most valued guests, we want to ensure you’re well cared for and that your preferences are noted within our hotel.

Can you please kindly provide us with some information, such as:

1.) your preferred beverage of choice
2.) sweet or salty snacks?

We look forward to your reply and to continue to extend you a warm welcome with every visit."

Just wondering if this is status quo for regulars at select hotels or if this is a proactive approach for the hotel to slightly mitigate the changes (e.g., loss of welcome amenity) to the WOH program starting on 3/1.

This obviously is not a game changer in selecting a hotel for anyone (especially not for the hardcore FTs); but it is nice to have a slight "add-on" benefit if you do stay there.

Btw - It goes without saying (but I will say it) that I would take the 1,000 welcome amenity points over these preferences any day of the week.

Sounds like an Embassy Suites!

So much for emulating Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, etc.

Curious of the property.. Hyatt Regency Santa Clara has had a similar program like this for some time.

Hyatt Regency LAX

I've noticed an informal version of this at some hotels within the last year.

I've also noticed some hotels offering a food and sometimes beverage amenity when the lounge is closed, although this is different from the F&B welcome amenity (pick one beverage from column A and one food offering from column B) that one can take in lieu of the current welcome amenity points.

Maybe World of Hyatt is encouraging these sorts of things on an unpublished basis rather than the formal welcome amenity choices and mandatory points for a closed lounge.

I have gotten a "thanks for being a top 50 guest" gift from a Hyatt, but I have never gotten an e'mail asking for my gift preference.

I recall getting the email to send them a picture so they could put that in the system and recognize me @ said hotel.

Curious - how many stays per month/year did it take to make top 50 at a property?

Thanks; I've stayed at the same HR ~4x/mo for the last half a year and haven't heard anything from them (I'm sure it will take quite a bit longer than 6 months to move into the top 50 category). Most of the time, I'm asked at check in if this is my first time at the property so I have my doubts that FDCs look at one's stay history.

This will depend very much on the property. Some places would have consultants and other business travelers who stay four or so nights per week for many months or even years.

Given alleged capabilities of Hyatt's software, I find it rather strange when front-desk doesn't recognize that I'm not a new guest. It happens more often than not and even when that hotel was my last stay a week ago

Maybe you're just not that memorable. At least you're probably not a pain.....

I can't remember the last time I heard, 'welcome back' at a Hyatt property. And I started listening for that a while ago - after reading how hotels track their repeat guests closely.

I haven't found that to be the case. I've received some fantastic upgrades on my first stay and gotten plenty of, 'have you stayed here before' at some repeat properties. This isn't limited to Hyatts; I've had that occur at other chains where I stay often.
