Diamond Re-qualification? Am I scr*wed?

Hello all,

I was aiming to re-qualify for Diamond Status in 2016, by completing 25 stays.

My last stay was from 30th December, for 2 nights. I.e. 30th and 31st December, and thought it is all good

I checked with Gold Passport today and they are crediting this stay in 2017, and not 2016, which completely messes up my 2016 Diamond Qualification. I had done a mattress run to hit the 25 night mark, but looks like Hyatt is counting it differently.

Now that we are in 2017, I can't go back in time.

However since my stay was in 2016, and Gold Passport usually tracks the nights, and not check out time, shouldn't my stay by counted in 2016?

Am I screwed? What other option do I have?

My New Years Eve stay posted wrong as well. On the phone with Hyatt GP I'm being told Managment has advised them it will be posting as Jan 1st stay not Dec 31st stay. ... people, that's not right...how does a Dec 31st night somehow not count as Dec 31st and counts as a Jan 1st night?? (Check in Dec 31st, check out Jan 1st)

That's unfortunate. Good to hear that others are facing the same issue and I wasn't alone.

I also realized that for me, if I had stayed one LESS night, I would have qualified without any issue. I could have done that since I checked in on the 30th and could have easily done that if I had known...

there were multiple threads all consistently indicating that 12/31 check in can be credited to previous year agter follow up... i did read a recent post on one blog claiming the opposite and citing gp source but hopefully this can be sorted out wit manual intervention...

I really hope this is still the case. As I mentioned in my previous post, I would have re-qualified for Diamond if I checked out EARLIER than my scheduled stay. Just because I stayed a night on the 31st, I dropped in status. That doesn't seem logical.

I am just venting

Indeed it's illogical. Do update once you hear from GP Concierge if anything as a data point.

Hyatt Conceirge on FT how is saying my Dec 31st 2016 night stayed counts as a Jan 1, 2017 night stayed instead? That is not right. I checked out on Jan 1st so how do I earn an eligible night stayed for Jan 1st? The I stayed and earned is Dec 31st 2016. This is just crazy wrong.

I heard back from Hyatt Concierge on FT. They referred me to Explorist Status, which is not what I was aiming for. I have asked them about the discrepancy that if I had checked out early, we wouldn't be having this conversation. That doesn't add up.

i'll keep everyone posted.

Email Quote for HyattGP
"since you checked out on January 1st these nights count towards your status for 2017"

Hyatt TC state
"all your qualifying nights from January 1 through December 31, 2016 count toward earning status for the year.

"all your qualifying nights from January 1 through December 31, 2017 count toward earning status for the year.

So it seems pretty clear that my Dec 31st stay (since it's clearly indicated on my hotel bill as a qualifying night) should count as a qualifying night for 2016.

Where did you get the Hyatt TC from? I tried to search it online but couldn't find it

Copied snipet from Hyatt Website, Here's a more detailed tc from Hyatt website under earning elite status. Not sure how to post a link here.

"Qualification for elite status is based on the Member’s activity (Tier-Qualifying Nights stayed or Base Points earned) over the course of a single calendar year, January 1st through December 31st (“Calendar Year”). Members must re-qualify for elite status each Calendar Year"

Last time I checked Dec 31, 2016 was part of the calendar year 2016 and not calendar year 2017.

Historically they counted these to the next year and you could call in and get it credited to the prior year. This always appeared to be hyatt being nice but there's a pattern for it over the last few years. Personally I wouldn't hope for a nye to get me to diamond, but some people like to roll those die.
