At the end of the day it boils down to a couple of factors,
How many hotel nights do you plan in 2017 and where are they in comparison to Hyatt properties. What is the status at Hyatt worth to you? Options One can easily get Hilton status with a CC. Marriott / SPG there is the AMEX card as well I am sure that there will be tweaks to the WOH of as we get close to the start date and throughout the year. My decision to stay is based in a large part to my International travel and there Hyatt is preferable for me. So I am staying Fly safe I wanted to make LT status with as many chains as reasonable before retiring - my efforts had concentrated on SPG, since I have >500 nights and ~8 yrs as Plat with them. When SPG got taken over by Marriott, I started to calculate the amount of effort required to hit Hyatt LT Diamond ... probably a pipe dream, so WoH did me a favor in dissuading me from pursuing LT status. Now, I'm halfheartedly looking at HHonors LT Diamond but probably won't put much effort into achieving that (I've never been a Hilton fan). I'm at the point where I'll probably be content with MR LT Plat and just do what's least painful for my wallet. Edit: looks like posts are vanishing today; I see your Wolf Pack post is gone along with my response asking if you flew with Robin Olds and/or Chappie James - they were a couple of legends in my military history class. |

I too have been shown the door by Hyatt. I'm still rather surprised that they do not value my business with a steady 25 stays/40+ nights/approx $10,000 spend per year, and that they would seemingly rather attract only US-based business travellers.
But after my initial shock, I feel a bit liberated. In 2017 we'll enjoy our last year of Diamond benefits, and from 2018 we'll be staying wherever we want, most likely in places where none of the chains have a presence. I've stepped up my Hyatt for January and February and then it's on to Marriott/SPG. That said, the continued discussion by so many is evidence we may be leaving but we're hoping that Hyatt admits they've shot themselves in the foot and fixes it. |

No issue with getting in the 60 nights, then, to requalify, or are you expecting to drop in status?

I looked back on my stays last couple of years and there are certain events i go to every year, as well as trips that should get me close enough to get there. And as I read it's 55 for renewal. Certainly there will be some "special's this coming year"

If you want to be Glob through 2018 you'll need 60 nights in 2017. Period. This has been hashed over so many times already.
I do apologize if I offended the experts here and cynic's |

As Dsquared stated, it's been confirmed several times by Hyatt that 60 nights will be required in 2017 for everyone including current Diamonds. If there's any portion of WoH that should change, it's requiring 60 nights in 2017 for all globs.

Not if someone does either 25 stays or 50 nights during January and February, although becoming Glob this way wouldn't result in getting any DSUs.
and 55 nights from 2019 onward. |
Considering that I misinterpreted the 55-night requal, I'm wondering if my other assumptions more relevant to my personal situation are correct. I completed 25 stays this year and my account indicates Diamond status valid until 28 Feb 2018. I'd appreciate any comments confirming whether or not I am correct in my understanding that:
1. On 01 Mar 2017 I will change from Dia to Gob and receive 4 DSUs valid for 1 year from date of issue; Glob status valid until 28 Feb 2018. 2. If I complete 30 nights in calendar year 2017 (no way that I will reach 60 nights), I will change to Explo from 01 Mar 2018 and receive 4 Club upgrades valid for 1 year from date of issue. 3. Even if I do not complete 30 nights in calendar year 2017, I will be soft-landed to Explo from 01 Mar 2018 and receive 4 Club upgrades valid for 1 year from date of issue. I am especially doubtful re No. 3, as this seems to only be word-of-mouth info that is not stated in any T&C or FAQ. |

With the caveat that some of these points were answered in the q+a lists that Markie submitted to a Hyatt rep, and that are not clear in the T+Cs, you understand the situation correctly.

I recall a soft-landing for the intro WoH year, but has there been any word of soft-landings thereafter?
For me personally, as long as I get the 4 DSUs (and am able to apply them) I will likely end up with 30 nights in 2017 enjoying the suites and my last year as Dia/Glob. Then if the Club upgrades can be successfully applied in 2018 I'll probably end up with 20 nights or so for that year. Kind of a slow burnout... |
