Reward Suite Availability

(I tried searching for this topic and I know it's in here somewhere but I couldn't find the answer to these questions, sorry that this is probably a common topic)

We're traveling to Montreal at the beginning of August for our anniversary and I was hoping to book one of the suites at the Hyatt Regency using points. I've never seen a suite listed when searching for award nights on any Hyatt property, so I assume that's something you can only book over the phone?

We're booked into a Club King, and the phone agent said there was no suite availability for those dates, but I figure I'd call back over the next couple of weeks to keep checking. Is it something that changes often, similar to award seat availability for flights? Is there any chance that calling back and getting a different agent might give me a better chance of booking a suite? Also would I have a better chance the closer it gets to my arrival date?

Thanks!

You're right in that suites are often not seen online, therefore you need to call.

Award availability for suites (entry level) is not like the award availability of base rooms where if the entry level room is available for revenue under the standard rate, it's available for redemption. The property has control of the suite inventory. In my case, at the Andaz Maui for a stay last Aug, I was told that award redemption for a suite was not available but it was for using a DSU, so I went and found a great BRG and applied the DSU.

Calling back immediately to get another agent is unlikely to work, but calling occasionally especially closer to the stay could work since inventory changes all the time.

FWIW, the entry suite that you would be confirmed into at the Montreal property is just 2 connecting rooms (with 2 baths) with one room setup as a living room with a pullout sofa - certainly not more luxurious than the regular room.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Regarding the entry-level suite itself, it says the hospitality suite there is 1000 sq ft, whereas the regular kings are 350. So would it be 3 regular rooms attached?

No, it would be like two regular rooms, with one room setup as a living room instead of a bed.

Looking at the room list, I would assume that the Executive Suite is entry-level not hospitality.
