Additional child

Hello

I booked Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui for 2 adults a Deluxe King room and called Hyatt to apply for the suite upgrade (I am diamond member). Now, the booking is upgraded to a regency suite.

Now we plan to take out 7 yr old daughter. Will I face any issues since booking is only 2 adults? I hope not with upgrade to suite

Why not contact the hotel and ask?

I've made a suite booking there and the hotel agreed to let my kids stay in the room as well. That said, I'd definitely contact them and let them know, so they can update your reservation and so you get confirmation that they've agreed. I don't think you'd have any issues, but I always like to have documentation when I show up at the property in case the front desk personnel aren't on the same page.

The question isn't whether the child can stay in the suite (I presume that the suite is rated for 3), but whether there will be an additional charge for the child. Simply adding the child online does nothing to fix your underlying issue.

You face two problems if you do not contact the property to make arrangements and obtain an express commitment.

First, the property may simply levy a reasonable or exorbitant fee for the child. You are standing there at check-in and have no negotiating power short of walking off with your family and luggage.

Second, if the suite is needed and you are downgraded, the property reasonably believes that you are a party of two. When you show up with three, you may simply not be permitted to check in.

All of this easily solved with Skype and a polite conversation. "Will it be a problem for our 7 YOA to accompany us? I take it that there will not be any additional charge, is that correct? Would you please add her name to the reservation."

In addition, some hotels have been known to run out of rollaway beds, cots and cribs. It's better to confirm one in advance, ideally so that it can already be set up in the room when you arrive.
