IAH Properties

Does anyone have any input regarding which IAH property is better?

I tried searching and found several very old threads.

I'm leaning towards the HR at this point in time.

I'm currently diamond if that sways things one way or another.

It's been 3 years since I've stayed there regularly, but the HR is nicer than HP. They're only about 2 or 3 blocks away from each other; I used to bounce between two in order to get more stay credits. The price difference wasn't very much between the two at the time. I would pay a few extra dollars to stay at HR.

I found the sandwich and beers that they gave you at the HR as the welcome amenity more valuable than the points if you're hungry for a meal.

They are not located in the best part of town; that gives HR an extra edge because it has better facilities.

Very convenient to the airport and both had free airport shuttles.

I've stayed at the HR IAH (it was a plain Hyatt when I was there) and you definitely don't want to wander around the area at night.

If I'm ever over-nighting again at IAH I might try the HP just to pick up another property for Milestones, but otherwise the HR was quite decent and worth paying more for.

Thanks for the input.

I have no plans to venture out at all. I get in late and leave early the next morning.

The HR is much better IMO. And yes, do not wander around outside.

Hyatt Regency North Houston is, unless things have changed in the last year, a franchise owned Hyatt. I've stayed there half a dozen times over the last year as a convenience given its location near IAH and my absurd number of Hyatt points I'll never get to redeem in this lifetime.

Clean, well run, shuttle to IAH. You'll want to stay on the Hyatt Passport floor if you enjoy late afternoon snacks and early morning grind-and-brew Starbucks coffee.

Greenspoint is known here as Gunspoint. Assuming you won't be doing an extended early morning or late night walk in the neighborhood, this is hardly a concern.

I stayed at both properties on alternating nights in October and agree with the above. The HP was slightly worse than a standard HP, although the front desk staff was really good. HR staff was excellent in many ways and, IMO, the overall property was in better shape than the HP. Given that the use of Diamond benefits is limited at an HP, I would opt for the HR.
