When are DSUs Deducted From Your Account?

I suspect that people who say "always at time of booking" have not been paying close attention.
They can be pulled at booking, at check-in, sometime during your stay, at check-out, after check-out, or never.

My last two were for stays at the Hyatt Vendome and Hyatt Hua Hin and used DSUs as part of a deal for either connecting rooms or a further upgrade and neither were deducted initially. I called HGP to have them applied since I didn't want something like a DSU not being applied to cause issues for a family vacation. Being somewhat paranoid, after the DSUs were applied, I called the hotels to make sure the somewhat complex bookings hadn't been messed up by HGP applying the DSUs but everything worked out just fine ^
