Hyatt Place Detroit / Royal Oak REVIEW - MASTER THREAD
This would be a much-welcomed addition to the Hyatt stable in Metro Detroit, providing a property a little more convenient to the city and in a bustling locale of its own.

Not significantly closer to DTW than HP Detroit/Novi.
This is a nice announcement, but IMHO they need a presence at DTW and -- perhaps more importantly -- something in Ann Arbor.

I appreciate new Hyatt properties, but another HP in Detroit suburbs? Yawn. Please build a Hyatt Centric in Greektown and an HP in downtown Ann Arbor ala the HP Madison and Michigan will be set.

An article from July 2016 says it's still in the conceptual stages.

A conceptual plan for the project, which would be paid for with $100 million in both private and public funds, was floated by the Central Park Development Group at public presentations in the spring.
In the lead-up to the proposal now known as Royal Oak City Center, the city was in discussions with Birmingham developer Jeffrey Surnow. A few months after the city entered an agreement with Surnow, he was killed in a bicycle accident in Hawaii.

Stayed here for one night a couple months ago. Pretty much what you would expect for a brand new HH/HP. Everything looks very nice, breakfast is fine, location is quite good about 5 minutes walking from what seems to be the heart of Royal Oak. There is a $10 parking fee and there is no pool. Didn't really have a chance to experience any service but the limited interaction was average. Construction occurring across the street...didnt really bother us for the stay but just notable as development seems to be moving down this corridor.
Oh yeah, also, I booked it at 5k points right before it was increased to an 8k cat 2 property. So value was great for me (I think ~$175 cash price) but maybe not as great now...especially if you pay cash!

Stayed here 3 nights during labour day weekend 2023 during the Arts Beats & Eats event.
Extremely walkable to everything in Royal Oak area if you need to be around there.
8k/night; price was about $353 per night. Hotel seemed quite quiet overall during my stay.
Was globalist and upgraded 2 nights before to corner suite. Overall very happy to get any sort of globalist recognition here. Would return again!
Breakfast was very typical Hyatt Place food.
