It's interesting that the one in South American will apparently have an executive lounge.

Ginza and Centric don't seem like a good match. Maybe Shinjuku & Centric or Ginza and Park Hyatt?

What makes you say that?

If you haven't bern to Ginza in a few years, you'll be surprised to see what it's become.

Centric fits just fine.

Just been to Ginza last week and agree with you on that. It seems much more touristy than actual fashion-istic than before. I find the new fashion part seems to be near the quiet end of Omotesando. :P

Saying that Ginza is the place for high-end department stores is like saying that Akihabara is the place for electronics; while technically true, it doesn't accurately describe the big picture.

Tadanori Uchiyama, a man with a long history at Hyatt hotels in Japan (most recently Rooms Director at Andaz Tokyo), has been chosen to be the first GM of Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo.

Interesting that when you posted this the site said opening January 2018, but has not changed to Early 2018.

With the addition of Centric Ginza there will be 5 Hyatt brands in central Tokyo, making it easy to pick-up a free 4-cat night.

Which you would probably only be able to use at Hyatt Regency Tokyo.

A sixth bramd is slated to open the following year nearby in Chiba.

So you think Ginza Centric will be a cat 5? Because of the real estate it sits on? I have to admit to being totally unfamiliar with the Centric brand, but my impression was that it was more mid-tier, like a cat 4, positioning it right between the HR and GH/Andaz.

Cat 5 is my guess. Like Waikiki.

Cat 4 would give me a reason to not cancel my Hyatt card when the renewal fee comes due.

Not sure where my mind was. Cat 5 would of course also position it between the HR and the GH.

The opening GM's name is Tadanori Uchiyama, ex-GH, Andaz Tokyo, HR Guam and a 20 year Hyatt man. Great guy and happy to see his elevation to the big chair.

The website is now accepting reservations from February 1st.
The hotel is listed as a Category 5 redemption.

category 5 is, not surprisingly, the Hyatt award category de jour.

although at the prices I am seeing, category 5 is apparently a steal... if those prices hold.
