Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina REVIEW - MASTER THREAD

Who has stayed and what did you think? This opened in recent months and is a custom build. There are very positive reviews on TripAdvisor but I'd like to hear from FlyerTalkers.

I've been there at least a dozen times. It's nice; in many ways similar to Hyatt Atlanta Midtown. There are only two real annoyances I have with the property:

* There's no stairway in the parking garage, only elevators
* You have to walk awkwardly close to the front desk staff when going to the restaurant or parking garage

Positives:

* Free parking
* Good staff
* New rooms
* Location is decent

It's also got no club lounge, which I prefer (Diamond breakfast benefit at the restaurant beats a lounge as far as I'm concerned.) I've got lots of photos, but I'm not exactly the trip report type.

I've had 1 stay there as well. Nice, new beautifully done. Made for weddings. Diamond breakfast was great as well as the service in the restaurant. My only complaint wasn't that I didn't get a room upgrade, it was that they weren't even able to give me a connecting room with our friends. The pool was also a little blah.

Really liked Villa Christina

Just checked out earlier today. Used a DSU and the suite was very nice, with 1.5 baths. Very clean and new, very nice staff. Restaurant was very good, service excellent. Wife and I felt totally pampered and spoiled.

Example: wife told them how much she loved the biscotti as we were leaving after a nice lunch. Busser quickly came back with a little box containing three biscotti. Next day, when same busser refilled her coffee at the end of very good breakfast, he also brought her a couple of biscotti.

Loved the free parking, and the reasonable prices at the café (we got a large 'pizza of the day' to take out, and it was only $12).

Young man at front desk wasn't completely familiar with how to handle Diamond Breakfast, but he checked with supervisor and all was handled well. Extremely friendly staff all around.

Has anyone stayed here recently? I was just able to book P+C at 4k points and $35 cash. What's up with that? Are P+C rates variable now?

I was there in December and it was overall a very nice stay. Location is good within close proximity to the mall and lots of restaurant alternatives (even though it can take you 30 minutes to go 2 miles to get there due to the traffic in the area). I had a very nice suite that I booked since we were there for a meeting and needed a space to work and meet. Breakfast was fine but DON'T order the yogurt! It was supposed to be turkish yogurt but it tasted like cream cheese. Also had lunch at the property and overall nothing to complain about.

Staff was friendly but the front desk staff all seemed to be rather new and still learning the ropes.

Stayed there a couple of months ago, and was upgraded to an Executive Suites. Received a nice gift box and a personalized note in the room, which is a first for me. The room was nice and clean, but the most memorable item is the the bathroom - almost the size of a normal room.

Like most of the hotels in the Perimeter area, the parking is free. If entering from the ground floor of the parking structure, you can take the elevator or walk up the stairs to the right of the elevator.

The only (minor) issue I have is access to the gym. The gym is located in the basement of the hotel, next to the spa. To access the gym from the hotel rooms, you'll need to go down to lobby or the 2nd floor, walk pass the restaurants or the meeting room, and take another elevator down to the basement.

Just checked in for a one night stay, got a suite upgrade without asking. Staff very pleasant, the agent escorted us to the elevator, nice touch for an American hotel.

The suite is great BTW.

Stayed here last night.

Parking is free in the adjoining garage.

Front desk staff was very friendly. Although my DIA status was recognized, they did not give me an upgrade of any type. Got the room I booked.

Room was fine for my one night stay. Fresh, clean, nicely appointed with a desk and ample power.

Shuttle is complimentary to local area. I used it to and from the MARTA, which is 5 minutes away.

Breakfast was in the restaurant. I was in after 9am, and the buffet looked a bit picked over. I mentioned it to the server and she quickly took my order and brought me fresh food from the kitchen with no issues. Service was friendly and attentive.

Breakfast was not on the bill, but I apparently tipped .41 too much and that did appear...

I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed a week and a half ago for one night mid-week. Got upgraded on a P+C rate to their "Villa" room, essentially a suite. Front desk made it sound like diamonds routinely get this upgrade when available, but of maybe three stays here in memory, this is the only one on which I was upgraded. Room had fold-out couch and dining table appropriate for up to 6, very convenient if there was family in town. The breakfast buffet is great, although usually I go early. Includes smoked salmon and made to order eggs and omlettes. The several times I have stayed here, they bring a receipt to charge to the room, and any room charges just disappear. Or at least they have for me, including 20% tip.

Can someone compare this HR with Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter ? I’m looking at a weekend stay and the rates are very similar. I‘m top tier with both Hyatt and SPG.

Also, how does this area compare with Buckhead and Midtown?

Thanks!

Anyone stayed here recently? Looking specifically to breakfast cost for non-Globalists, as I'll potentially be there with the family. Room rates are QUITE reasonable and with free parking, it may be worth paying for breakfast and still come out ahead compared to other properties I'm considering.

I stayed at the beginning of April as a globalist. Upgraded to a nice suite with office building view. The rooms are consistently nice and very clean here. That's what keeps me coming back to this property.

Regarding breakfast, cost for the buffet is $20/person plus tax. For a breakfast of two, works out to $43.20 plus gratuity. They have a regular menu as well. IMHO the breakfast has gone downhill a lot the past few years. On my most recent stay, I didn't even use my free breakfast my second of two mornings. Previously they had a window open to the kitchen where a chef would make omelettes, everything was fresh, and service was great. Now they don't even pour coffee for you and the window to order omelettes was closed up. Maybe it was just the weekend I was there, but I was not impressed. Instead, I would recommend you go somewhere with a better experience for the same or less price.

For any globalist readers, this property seems to habitually charge for globalist breakfast (most recently, not even on my folio from the website!). Really sloppy. Recommend keeping your eyes open for incorrect charges.

Regarding the parking, unless free for you ($0 award, etc.), I think it is either $7 (as listed on the parking machine on exit on my April stay) or $14 (as listed on the website). Although I recall on a recent trip I was told it was $10.
