Given sushi, burger, and champagne only for it to be taken away :/
We are currently staying at Park Hyatt Chicago and we were delivered an extraordinary amount of food. We were very excited as we thought hyatt concierge was giving us a complimentary meal due to the instance where you could tweet hyatt concierge and they could possibly give you a surprise during your stay. (We did get chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in the early afternoon.)
Well after the food was delivered to our room and everything was set on the table, we get a call that says it was sent to the wrong room and if we wanted to keep it we would have to pay for it. I understand that mistakes do happen but it did bum us out when it was taken away. :/

It's been my experience that food delivered in error is usually offered for free in this type of situation, since most respectable wouldn't re-serve it to the original customer!

On the upside, you're probably better off, as the combo of sushi, burger, and champagne just doesn't do it for me. Sounds like some guests with an "eclectic" palate are staying there also.

I was very surprised with the outcome, I am curious to what they did with the food as well. Like I said I understand that mistakes happen but as DeepUnderground said, I would have thought that they would just let me keep it. In the end we ended up having dinner elsewhere.

There should have been service recovery even if the food was removed. Unless the bottle of Champagne was very expensive, I do not see why the hotel didn't just comp the food if the OP was happy with it. It is not as though they can serve it to another person anyway after it has been in someone else's room.

No I didn't sign anything. Concierge had brought it to my room, opened the champagne bottle, asked how our stay was, and then left. There was no mention of any charge which is why I thought it was compliments of concierge. Shortly thereafter I recieved the phone call saying it wasn't meant for our room.

Nothing preventing them from taking it away though if it wasn't yours to begin with, and that seems to be what was done..... Serving it to another guest is just speculation.
If it's a sensible course of action is something else.

During my last stay at a Hyatt (apparently without having a Twitter account) my room came with two apples (one was highly questionable...)
