Its a great cost cut for ownership but make no mistake it also stripped the hotel of its brand supremacy imho
prior to Covid I was committed to the property as they ran a nice lounge and Paid the extra 50 plus a night now i go the
Sheraton for less and the Hyatt rarely.

You’re welcome. Another excellent example of “it never hurts to ask, give them an opportunity to say yes, the worst they can do is say no.”

I believe many HR lounge closures occurred initially during COVID restrictions and subsequently were simply NOT reopened. I believe that quickly became SOP for HR.

Agreed regarding hotel brand stripping. Not sure about cost savings. If everybody who previously took advantage of the lounge (breakfast and refreshments) now takes advantage of a daily $20 voucher it might end up costing them more. Certainly with the lounge there was a lot more waste as some of the refreshments they made available were ultimately discarded. Out of my area of expertise to determine on which side that scale comes down.

Occasionally, without any discernible pattern, the HR is less expensive than other nearby properties particularly when various discounts (AAA, AARP, military, corporate, etc.) are considered.

They won't lose money giving out twenty bucks instead of running a lounge. There's labor, food and supplies. All that keep going higher due to inflation. And there is the hidden cost of not being able to monetize a high-priced room or rooms.

So I went back to the property last night primarily because its shuttle is much more frequent than the HH/HP one.
Got outside at T5 as it pulled up - wait time less than 1 minute.

On arrival the usual checkin shambles (00:10 hrs).
- Only one person on check-in who was dealing with walk-ins, at $250 per might plus tax!
- I checked in using the electronic key on the app and walked away - the agent shouts ' The electronic key doesn't work' as I walk away - so get back in queue
- No breakfast or $20 coupon offered 'We don't provide those on your rate' - which was my corporate rate (despite Lifetime Globalist!)
- Waters offered
- Room 901 right at end of corridor allocated - all fine with the room

The shuttle sells this property but everything else is horrid.

I'm pretty low care-o-meter about FDC faux pas. But not extending Globalist Benefits would imply either a rogue property, or more likely an unbriefed FDC. Both of which might be worth contacting Hyatt, if only so the GM has to work the ticket and explain what happened.

Another bad stay last night - I only went back because their shuttle is so much better than the Hyatt Place and I had only about 6 hours to sleep.
- No Internet access (Invalid name or room number)
- Globalist coupons specify coffee or juice but the World Of Hyatt T&Cs provide both to Globalists.

Ive had three stays here in the last 3 weeks. All have been excellent. Walked from AA and AS in each case then walked back to the airport when departing.

No picketing or other labor action occurred, staffing seems normal although most of the front desk staff seems to be new again; I only saw one or two familiar faces. Renovation of the lobby continues with a large portion being walled off; apparently a new bar/lounge/restaurant will be more centrally located if I remember correctly. The current bar/lounge is unaffected and the Globalist free drinks from 5-7pm continues. The menu for the bar/lounge has changed a bit with some items dropping off and new sandwiches/entrees added. I had no issues with Wi-Fi during my stays.

The breakfast buffet is the same as usual in restaurant area. Despite the voucher using the word or, coffee, tea, and juice are provided free of charge.

But it's the buffet... you can get whatever you want. I've routinely gotten juice, a cappuccino, and a coffee to go.

For some reason this hotel is sold out between February 29 and March 2 (two nights inclusive). While I don't doubt it's possible, I suspect it's due to some event on site given how far in advance we're talking, in which case I find it curious for an event to be held at an airport hotel. No harm no foul, just my two cents.

Also, for what it's worth, the guaranteed availability rate is significantly different for the two sold-out nights: $309 for the first (quite reasonable IMO) and $799 for the second. I thought these guaranteed availability rates were fixed and didn't vary from day to day?

The HR LAX does a fairly brisk event business with corporate and social events regularly occurring. Pretty much every time Ive been there on a Saturday there is at least one wedding/reception occurring there.

LAX airport hotels are surprisingly popular wedding destinations, I would assume because of convenience for out of town visitors plus relatively low weekend event rates.

Interesting. Not where I would choose to have my wedding, but to each their own!
