[MGM] Signature at MGM Grand Las Vegas REVIEW - MASTER THREAD

I haven't seen reviews of any properties for the new partnership yet so I thought this may help other people given the new combined program.

I had two recent stays at the Signature property. The property itself is decent; however, getting them to honor promised terms of the reservation proved to be incredibly difficult. I booked through Chase LHR and was denied both the promised upgrade and late checkout despite availability for both. I don't spend much time in my room so the actual rooms aren't very important to me so that may cause a discrepancy in my review compared to others (which is also why I don't pay for Skylofts or Hotel 32 or whatever the Aria specialty rooms are called.

The breakfast credit with Chase LHR is only good at Delights, which is a cafe. The food wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything special. If you don't have that breakfast credit, there is no reason to eat there.

Pros:
The first suite I had was very spacious. Because these were meant to be condos it would be very nice to stay here if you were staying for over a week. They have silverware (at least they did on the first stay), a stove, microwave, etc... The view wasn't bad, but during the summer I'd imagine that it is much better because it overlooks the MGM pools. There was no line at checkin and checkout which is a big plus for a Las Vegas property. The connected towers each have their own checkin. The spa was very nice, the massage was above average, and there is a nice hot tub there. While most people won't go to the salon, I figured I'd mention that the haircut was nice albeit overpriced.

Pros/Cons (these may be pros for some and cons for others):
The property is very quiet with a little bit of a pretentious feel. As a 25 year old I felt somewhat out of place. It does not feel like a Las Vegas property because it isn't on the strip, doesn't have gaming, and isn't very active. If you are coming to Las Vegas solely to relax, this is a decent property.

Cons:
I have to admit that both of my stays started out poorly (due to the denial of late checkout and having to fight to get the spa and dining credit) so I may be subconsciously exaggerating the poor points of the property. To get to the strip you have to walk a long way to get to the MGM property and then try to find your way through the massive casino that has no signs indicating where LVB is. I actually don't mind the walking, and kind of enjoy it in Las Vegas where the people watching opportunities are prime, but the inability to determine where the exit is was particularly frustrating. On the way from the Signature property to the MGM casino you will most likely be hassled by people trying to give you brochures for things so that you can throw them away (this is not outside, this is inside the hotel). The MGM casino itself is pretty bad, I played blackjack at three different tables there and on two of them I'm not sure that the dealer said a word. The MGM property is in a poor location on the strip, at least in my opinion, especially because I generally go to Planet Hollywood and Caesars to gamble (why couldn't Hyatt have teamed up with Caesars). But I think even if you didn't have a preferred casino this property is simply in a bad location because it takes so long to get to other places.

Final disposition: if you want a quiet, relaxed hotel this is a decent one for $100/night, but if you want an exciting experience, stay away. If all you want is a nice room, but want to be close to the action, stick with Hotel 32. The Signature is NOT a "luxury property."

Pictures- sorry, quality isn't great because they were from a phone (from the first stay in a regular suite, the second stay was in an accessible room):

My second stay at the signature they definitely were aware of the late checkout benefit. I actually really needed it for the second stay (ended up costing me about $20 extra because I could not put my haircut on the room which would've been comped with the spa credit) so I showed them the printout saying that it should be given and the lady just said "I'm sorry, I can offer you 12:30, but if you want to stay later you will have to pay the half day rate." This effectively confirmed that late checkout was in fact available.

As for the upgrade, on the first night I got there the lady looked at my reservation as I was checking in and said something like "upgrade to [whatever the room was called]. Upgrade? I don't know what that means." I looked at her confusedly and she just said "oh well, we don't have any upgrades anyway." I didn't really care about the upgrade but it would've been nice to get it on one of my stays just so I could see the room. As for the second stay, well, I was downgraded from what I originally booked.

I think it was mostly indifference. Las Vegas hotels make their money from the casinos and I am not betting $500/hand so I think they just figured "who cares about this kid." I received the same indifferent attitude from the lady who responded to my email who, for all of the hassle, offered me a $100 spa credit if I stayed there again. Forgetting about the fact that it was already a PITA to use the credit the last time, this credit is only for the spa while my previous credit was for food and spa. I don't require special treatment, but it was just embarrassing to read that email.

A couple months ago I stayed at Caesars and the room was comped (I didn't pay anything at all) and I had just checked in, and someone came up to my room, apologized profusely and told me they had to move me one floor down. It was no hassle to me whatsoever, and even if it was, the room was comped, so who am I to complain. On the following Monday I got a call from someone at the hotel apologizing once again and offering to provide transportation to and from the airport in a limo as well as comp one buffet on my next stay. That is significantly more than I would expect, but what I was offered by MGM was significantly less than I would expect especially because it cost me actual money and not just some benefit.

UPDATE - Hyatt stay credit posting: One positive I have about this property is that the first stay on January 10th posted to Hyatt on January 17 or 18 (maybe earlier) which I am pretty happy about as I have heard that some people have waited months for other properties.

The property is a very long walk from the main MGM property. It feels like almost 2 city blocks off the strip.

It's probably the main vice that I have about this particular property. After a whole day of walking around on the strip, it's a ways to the room to freshen up, then back out for dinner.

Thanks for the info in this thread. I am contemplating booking Signature via the Chase LHR Collection. The small print says the resort credit is good at Signature and MGM outlets (certain restrictions apply). But it does not list the restrictions.
I've stayed at Signature and like it enough for what it is. But if I have to use that 100 at Delights, I''ll take a pass. It's okay. But agree with the OP that it's nothing special.

I'm in the same situation, anyone knows what I can spend the $100 resort credit on? buffet? shows?

You can probably spend it at any F&B outlet within MGM Grand and the Signature, except for the food court since they can't charge transactions to the room.

Have there been any recent stays here? If I book on the Chase LHR site would I still get say Hyatt credit?

I'm usually a Starwood customer but plan on doing Diamond challenge by the time of my las vegas stay. .just wondering if any Hyatt status will help at check in or if I'd received points and stay credit.

TIA

I stayed here a few weeks ago for the first time. No Hyatt recognition. The place is just a little strange as the OP stated quite well. Extremely quiet, almost deserted and a very long walk to the MGM. It was OK for $95/night but I won't go back. Also, it still has not posted to my Gold Passport account. I called and they told me it would typically take 30 days.

Thanks for update. .We're going the last weekend of May and not sure why but hotel rates all over are double or more than usual. Even The Signature is listed at $485 for 2 nights. .but was cheaper than Hyatt.com or Mlife. Plus have up until 48hr prior check in to cancel so will keep watching for better rates if you got in at $95 wow.

plus the added LHR benefits (breakfast, $100 credit, chance at upgrade).

I was actually more sold on the fact its non-smoking and no casino (since im recovering gambleholic nearly 10yrs sober) but visiting Vegas for first time to just see shows and the scenery and have nice place to stay. Staying here do guest get access to all the pools?

I still have 2 free Hyatt nts (from credit card) but couldn't see any value to using them for Vegas and hoping to get in a trip to NY or back to Hawaii for those.

Save your free nights. So many amazing hotels you can use these all over the world. Don't waste them on the Vegas properties. Also, I didn't use the pools, so I am not sure about access.

100 resort credit

Anyone stay here recently that can comment on any restrictions for the LHRC $100 resort credit?
Can you apply it to the resort fee? Just for food and beverage?

Thanks for any info!
