Thanks BookerT. I did book The kids stay free promotion by paying cash, but I also need to book one additional night right after the promotional period, which would triple the cost with 'Kids stay free' promotion. So I will have to book with points. If I read correctly even if I book by calling for 2 adults and 2 children, it would still cost 40k, doesn't matter 2 rooms or 1 room. So I;m wondering if I just book 1 room for 20k for 2 adults, whether I can squeeze in the kids by paying cash at front desk.
Not sure how they would handle your situation. My guess is they would either let it slide since the kids would already have wristbands from your cash nights or come up with some sort of cash rate to charge you.

Didn't feel uncomfortable leaving the resort. Armed guards were posted in the supermarket across the street, but that is not unusual in latin america.

Found amazing cash rates for family(under $300) throughout the year only for this particular Ziva Property, hopefully not a sign of drop of quality. We have never been to this Ziva, but have been to Ziva in Cancun. Will give cabos a try. Hopefully everything is in par with Cancun ziva.

We did like that it offered a bit of a sanctuary to get away from the crowds elsewhere in the resort, and probably a halfway decent place to get work done if one needs to while here.

Not sure when you were here. We had club access and while we were glad we had it, we didn't think it was really all that great. Higher end liquor it seems, but not self pour. You tell the attendant what you'd like and they take the bottle in the back to make your drink. With all the hub bub about fake alcohol in Mexico, this didn't give us warm fuzzies. The daytime food spread is not really better than what is available elsewhere. At dinner time, the food spread was actually really terrible. Mediocre food sits unstirred under heating lamps for ages. One evening a Chef looking fellow came up to inspect the terrible looking food. I thought this might prompt a resolution-Nope. Not a huge issue at an all inclusive where good food is available at the restaurants or room service, but I wonder why even bother having a spread if you can't keep it looking fresh/appetizing.

well, I’ve been to this ziva 5x since it opened. I can say I did see some club changes on my last visit. My last trip was January 20th of this year. I was able to self pour. I do keep my liquor simple. Gentleman Jack neat most of the day. Maybe kettle one or grey goose in the am. So, whether it’s a self pour for my menu of likes, it is pretty straight forward. I guess, for me, the club is where to go for higher end liquor—-whiskey vodka, tequila. A quiet spot, not many people in. The food is take it or leave it. Did it mostly in the am. Meats. Brie. Something light. A GREAT espresso maker. Seems like on all 5 trips, we had the same person or two working in the club. On first drink I would usually tip and leave a small tip as I left each time. I’ll be back in May, maybe it will be different by then. Sitting on the deck with sone friends at 7am was always a great way to start the day. This Ziva is still the best All inclusive experience we’ve had. I understand the concerns about liquors. I could be wrong here, but I don’t think Hyatt as a brand, would water down liquor or have it something it is not. I have not come close to seeing that here. Have down the road, at more expensive all inclusives and felt like they weren’t even trying to hide it.

Returned over Christmas time. Been here two years prior.
its a nice place but even though we aren't foodies have seen a change.
Lunch options have been cut mainly buffet and pizza
menu options at dinner streamlined.
a lot of miscommunications at checkin

Just completed a 3 night stay as a Globalist. Booked a 1 bedroom Ocean view suite. Lobby was beautiful with great views and open air. At checkin we were escorted to a private check in area for all Hyatt members with status. There we were given information about the resort and wrist bans. Black for Globalist and as far as I can tell it only gave me two distinct amenities over others. One was the ability to make reservations at any of the 5 restaurants. This was extremely helpful as people begin to line up over an hour ahead of the opening of each place. It was great to save the time and not be strapped in by lines. The second was the access to premium liquor. At the pools we were offered better selections then my friends who had their own separate room, without any status. That said, once the wait staff saw us together they were granted the better selections without any pushback. We were told that the room wouldn’t be ready until after 3pm and we would need to check back for the keys. At quick look at the Hyatt App showed the Presidential suite open and I asked for an upgrade. I was told that they were full, go figure. I did watch for the next 3 nights at the lights in the suite were never turned on and the app continued to show availability.
Overall, I found the suite I booked to be spacious and clean. Flat screen TVs, granite counters, and a massive bathroom with a whirlpool tub. Again, the cleanliness was good and I was impressed at how quick housekeeping was each day. The first day they arrived with 3 maids and each had a room to tackle. 30 minutes later they were gone. In fact, the entire resort was well kept.
For the negative, I have a few. I found the food to be okay, nothing exciting. They have a few different types of restaurants, including French, Italian, Japanese, Steakhouse, and Mexican. None of the them were outstanding but none of them were poor. It was just average with nothing big to get excited about. However, for a 100% all inclusive resort it was better quality food then other AIs I have stayed at. One night we decided to do desert at the French restaurant as we heard their menu was the best for desert. The staff were reluctant to seat us but did after we made clear we just wanted desert. This shouldn't have mattered but to them it did. Once seated we encountered the only rude person on the trip. The waiter was down right awful. It took over 1 hour to get deserts in a half empty restaurant. We had to ask him several times for water refills and coffee while he folded napkins and sat at other tables by himself. It was really strange and to this moment it was off. His responses were not helpful and you could tell he hated that we were there.
Overall I would say this property is very family friendly and does a good job. I wouldn’t be rushing back here as I would prefer something a little more luxurious but for an 2-3 night AI, it will do just fine. I paid 519 USD per night for 2 adults. At this price, I won’t be coming back on a couples trip. For a family it wouldn’t be too bad.

I know this is an old question, but I didn't see it answered and was wondering about this as well. Does anyone know if booking a premium suite allows guest to receive premium drinks or make reservations? I'm assuming it doesn't and that premium drinks are limited to the in-suite refreshment center and the club lounge.

Yes for premium drinks, no for reservations.(as of our visit in Sept 2017) The bartenders can see your wristband and may be more likely to pour premium liquor for you, but I wouldn't say it always happens. I think a generous tipper with a 'normal' wristband is probably just as likely to score premium drinks if establishing a relationship with the bartender. For instance, the bartender who eventually started making us awesome top shelf margaritas, started us off with the cheap stuff on the first couple rounds the first day.
