My wife and I had been super spoiled by this property in 2014 (they had recently opened) and they were comping everything on the breakfast menu for globalist breakfast!

Some photos of the breakfast food and buffet.
I especially enjoyed the kimchi stew and the mochi waffles. The breakfast potatoes were also great-very crunchy! Lilikoi POG and coconut water were my favorite beverages.

We politely declined and begged for something that's not ground floor - even one floor up would be fine. No dice.

::snip::
That night before going to bed, a large cockroach appeared in our bathroom sink. They immediately moved us to that 7th floor ocean view suite for free.

On top of this, there were other misses such as the radio alarm (which I did not touch at all) ringing at 5:00am waking up myself and my infant child, while I frantically tried to figure out how to turn it off. Also an even larger cockroach hanging out at one of the elevator doors near the pool.
We have been in Room 318 multiple times in the last few years - maybe more than 5. Also had a similar incident with a B52 (as we call them here in the islands, aka large roach) crawling around like it owned the place, but ours was by the TV in the dining/living room. B52s are just a part of life in Hawaii. The issue is people probably leaving the doors open when they sleep at night and that's when they come in. No amount of bug spray or treatment will prevent the B52s from getting into those rooms if the doors are open, unfortunately. We've also had B52s make appearances at the GH Kauai and other luxury hotels in the islands.

I know you all have been in suspense since I posted this months ago:

And I will now reveal that this is, in fact, from room 318, as slippahs and elasticc0 can attest.

Is that the only non-ground floor standard Andaz Suite?

I actually think 418 qualifies as a partial ocean view suite. To them, anyway.

I mean, we could definitely see the ocean. Not unobstructed, but it was visible
