The Hyatt page:

Doesn't list a start date, other than August for status match. In fact, that Hyatt page reads like August is the start date.

This is a confusion which MLife and Hyatt management need to address.

7. When can I begin receiving the benefits of the relationship?
Effective June 20th, 2013, members of both programs may begin receiving benefits of the new relationship. Coming in August, Hyatt Gold Passport members will also be eligible to opt-in to a matching tier status in M life.

I'm pretty sure that you can't earn points on an unpaid stay. If that's not true, I'd like to know, as I have some stays that I need points for.

If you are a Hyatt Plat., what level will they give you with MLife in august-Platinum as well?.

And how do you do the status match? Can it be any m-life casino? I live near Detroit's MGM and since they aren't participating hotel, I wasn't sure if the M-life desk there will be able to do the status match or not.

Still a good deal seeing gold will get me the buffet line pass and that I mainly gamble at Harrah's properties. Trop gave me gold status there for just being a Hilton Diamond member.

Somewhere on the FAQ it said that you don't get points or stay/night credit on a comped stay, bit you do still get tier credits and HGP points from incidental spend.

This aligns with my previous experiences on just the mlife side.

I had two stays earlier this week at the Excalibur and Luxor. At the Excalibur, I asked upon check in to add my Hyatt# to the reservation, and while the desk agent didn't seem fazed by the request, she had to ask a supervisor where to add it in the system. At the Luxor, I asked to add my Hyatt# again, and the agent said he needed to check because he wasn't sure that Hyatt was a partner. When he returned, he checked and found that my Hyatt number was already on my account (he showed me his screen to confirm this). So far nothing is showing on the Hyatt side, but I have received tier credits from Mlife for my stays. My folios do not show any indication of having my Hyatt#.

Points & Stays Posted

Had 3 stays, June 20 Aria / June 21-22 Mirage / June 23 Mandalay..

The Mirage & Mandalay points & stays posted. The Aria did not but I believe it was because we were already staying there the 18th and 19th and I called in to add another night, although it was a different reservation the mLife site showed it being combined in to one 3 night stay. I haven't looked deep enough to make sure the points were correct but the stay nights posted and the points look close enough at first glance...

I was able to use the Gold/Plat check-in area at MGM when there must have been 150+ guests waiting in the regular check-in line. ^ But this is probably a YMMV for now as I first asked a manager who said "not until they work out the details" but few minutes later I went to the premier check in area anyways and was able to check in.

Was checking on hyatt.com for NYE availability at MGM properties and found none in the good hotels. At first I thought it must be a blackout date for the Hyatt partnership, but then I searched on the individual properties' websites and even they say no availability. Is it normal for NYE in Vegas to be sold out this early??

NYE isn't sold out at MGMs in Vegas yet. I see tons available on Mlife.com
A lot of the times they wont have dates available in November/December this early in the year depending on the individuals website. For instance try looking at New York New York hotel, the latest date avail is in October. That or Hyatt may be still updating their system. Whatever the case, if you need to book now, go to MGM/MLife, or the individuals property website. Don't rely on Hyatt, yet...

NYE is the peak season for Vegas. In additional to ridiculously high room rates, many properties impose minimum stay requirements. Try checking 3-4 night over NYE and you should see availability.

I just randomly checked 12/30 to 1/2 for 3 nights on hyatt.com and see many availabilities: Aria at $379, NYNY at $260, MGM at $243 etc.

The price of NYE rooms tell the story.

It was common to see top hotels offer a rate well north of $400 for a standard room on 12/31 and the exact same room is available for less than $100 the next day.
