They have stayed at a few Hyatts during state visits/conferences. 1 stay including the entire entourage spends more than enough to earn CC.

I wonder if this explains what happened to me the other week. I checked in to a Hyatt and the person checking me in was whispering "VIP" this and that to her colleague and then proceeded to show me to the room. She then showed me how the light switch and the a/c worked! I was a bit nonplussed about this as it's certainly never happened before. Presumably I'm a lowly V diamond though.

Other than the whispering, the rest is quite standard for diamonds in asia based on my experience.

I saw a "status code" on a housekeeping sheet for both days of our stay at Hyatt Regency Hakone. The code for our room was "V1" on the first day, and "S" on the second. Every other room was an "O".

They must have their own codes.

V1 is generally reserved for heads of state, high ranking royalty etc.

He implied that you wouldn't be wasting your time on FT if you were a true V1.

So a true V1 can only waste their time on Twitter?

given the number of CEOs who run Fortune 500 companies who participate in this site -- I think there are more than a few V1s on here.

Then what did you mean by "etc."?

There is a dedicated thread to VIP codes with explanations.

V1 is also used for Courtesy Card, at least based on personal experience. Makes that code a little less exclusive ;)

Correct. Back then Courtesy Cards were only hotel owners and those they invited. It was far more exclusive then.

So it's fair to say that you don't really know what a V1 stands for anymore, ne?
