Does Anyone Have Experience On Combining Points

I am trying to combine points from several accounts for an award. Hyatt is telling me you can only move points from one account for a particular reservation.

I have gotten at least three different answers from Hyatt prior to this one about transferring points, and while the Hyatt T&C are ambiguous, I would say they lean firmly toward my position, that there is no limit on the number of accounts you can move points from.

Personal experiences would be useful - post here or PM me. Thanks.

From prior discussion in the forum, you are only allowed to combine points if the account that is making the reservation does not have enough points for the award. I don't know if you are allowed to combine from multiple accounts. Perhaps you should PM our Gold Passport Concierge for a correct answer.

If you are looking for multiple nights, you can always book separate reservations - one for each night and possibly get around this rule (if in fact it does exist).

GP said they would make an exception and let me combine.

Agree about multiple reservations.

The whole thing is rather odd. For example, presumably you could make a reservation, transfer points against it, then cancel the reservation - the points don't go back, I don't think.

IIRC, Marriott allows combining only within immediate family. Which would be fine for GP if they want to actually make that rule.

Anyway, at least for now, I have it worked out.

I hope Hyatt is listening... It would be great if we could specify a destination account for points. It could even be an account with the same physical address if that matters.

This would help customers who do most of the travel in a household. It would also produce some cost savings for Hyatt since status would not transfer along with the points.

I have done the latter repeatedly in at least three of the last five years, but it required combining for one redemption, canceling and then combining again for another redemption (and repeating as desired). I didn't attempt to combine from three or more accounts at once, but the end result was the same as combining points from three or more accounts: all points combined into one account after cancellation(s).
