Expiration question

I've had no activity in my account since 3/19/01. I seem to recall that Gold Passport has an 18 month rule, but I can't find any details on the web site. Should I be worried? I have 80,000 points at stake. Is there an easy way to reset the clock? Any help would be appeciated.

I hate to inform you that it actually is a 12 month rule.

But not to worry, call up Hyatt GP. They put your account as inactive, but don't actually delete it, from my knowledge. (Can anyone confirm?)

They will just reactivate it. Make sure you have a stay a year, just in case.

If you have thoughts of staying with Hyatt, you might also see if they will give you an incentive to bring your business back... 80,000 points is quite a bit...

I'd get some activity ASAP if I were you ... that is a lot of points ... the best thing would be a transfer from Diners Club ... if you have it. The next best option would be a car rental with Avis or Alamo that would get you some points relatively cheaply ...

Thanks,
The web site still shows my point balance. I'll do the Diners transfer today.

Well, I was reactivated, and lo and behold, points that I had accumulated from nearly a decade ago posted to my account!

I had over 18 months of inactivity (Mar 01-Sept 02) and 15 months in between ealy 99 and mid 2000 but it saved my points both times til I activated my web account this year and all of them are available. Go Hyatt!!! Another reason for loyalty!
