DSU and award nights
Looking to use DSU for suite, cash+point rate only available currently on first night of three night stay. Last two nights I could use points for free night- as Diamond member any success rate here having suite extended over award nights? I know it's not required, just wondering how likely, or maybe just YMMV? Or how likely C+P rate will open up on last two nights?
thanks
thanks

If I make a cash+points Booking for a family member, will they provide Diamond amenity? The Booking will be in the Diamond member name, but the Booking will be for 1 person and second guest name is noted in the comment. So It is obvious that the Diamond member will not be arriving. Any experience is appreciated.

Grand Club Renovation?
I was going to book this hotel for my upcoming trip but saw a notice saying that the grand club is under renovation as shown below. Has anyone been to the temporary club lounge recently? Is the food spread during breakfast and evening still the same as before? Thanks!
THE HOTEL WILL BE UNDERTAKING A RE-MODELLING PROGRAMME OF THE GRAND CLUB LOCATED ON THE 83RD FLOOR WHICH WILL BE CARRIED OUT FROM OCTOBER 31, 2016 AND IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED AT THE END OF JANUARY 2017. DURING THIS PERIOD, THE GRAND CLUB WILL BE LOCATED ON THE 82ND FLOOR.

? Also asking for images about the Grand Club renovation
l380 stated some months ago that the Grand Club of that hotel is now renovated.
The Hyatt website shows an unchanged info:
My two questions are:
1.) What kind of outlet are they using at the moment for the Regency Club? I was not aware that there is a food outlet on 82nd. Or did they just convert one or two suites to be the alternative location?
Which ones?
2.) Does anyone have a source/report where Hyatt publices information about the new layout? 2-floors or did they change the layout completely?
From October to end of January looks like a large time frame.
Info would be appreciated.
IMHO this is the most fascinating building I have ever stayed in.

I was there during Christmas, the temporary club was two president suites combined.
Food for evening is still similar to what's offered before, not sure about breakfast as I usually just go to the main restaurant

I was more curious about how they install that additional food outlet, the champagne bar would have been be much too small for that.
It gives me also an imagination of the location of these larger suites. I always wondered where they have allocated that suites given the fact that 83/84 was mainly occupied by the Club lounge.
And the overall square meters of the higher floors are shrinking floor by floor.
Pretty cool location given the fact that the presidential suites have a high four digit price tag per night(in Euros or USD).

After many years again in Shanghai! This time not staying at the GH (decided because no status with Hyatt currently). I quickly missed hotel and Cloud 9, so went there and up to 87th floor. The bar charges an entrance fee of RM 150 per person now for guests not staying at the hotel, but a drink is included (I took the Cloud 9 cocktail ). Staff very nice ^. Status or not - next time in Shanghai the hotel will see me again as staying guest and I won´t pay entrance at the bar

Just checked in this afternoon. The suite (TSU) is very nice and looks recently renovated. There aren't many light switches and I can't find light switches for the entrance foyer, closet, or alcove for mini bar. I like the suite layout and decor better than the room I had at the Park Hyatt last fall. Very good use of TSU here.
Temporary Grand Club is on 82nd floor. Beverage and evening food selections are OK, not nearly as good as Grand Hyatt Beijing. There is no water melon juice, which the Beijing Grand Club had all day long.
Breakfast for Globalist is at the Grand Club only, no restaurant, another point for GH Beijing.

Grand Hyatt Shanghai - August 2017
Background:
Despite the deplorable World of Hyatt, I booked a one night stay at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. I had a very early start the next day and checked-in around 1630.
Check-in:
I asked to check-in at the Grand Club and was escorted to the lift. A Grand Club associate checked me in. I would give her 5 on the friendliness scale. However, she did upgrade me to a Grand Suite King without prompting.
Happy Hour:
The Happy Hour was very disappointing, especially compared to the Grand Hyatt Beijing as other posters have said. The desserts were very good though. Sausage rolls as the main event when it comes to hot food was, to me, a strange choice. The Grand Club staff were inoffensive and quick at clearing plates but that's about it.
View from the Grand Club:
Grand Suite King:
Room service breakfast:
Breakfast at the main restaurant only opens at 0630. Unfortunately I had to leave at 0620. The night before I went to the Grand Club to order my breakfast to ensure that nothing gets lost in translation. I even wrote everything down on a piece of paper and gave it to the Grand Club associate.
My breakfast arrived on time at 0545. I was extremely disappointed that the eggs came alone (i.e. without hashbrowns and whatever else there should be for 90 CNY) and there was no maple syrup with the oatmeal as requested (and stated as an option on the room service menu). I did call Room Service to let them know and they said they would send the accompaniments to the eggs and maple syrup. But I was in a rush and did not have time to wait for them to get their act together.
Check-out:
I mentioned the issues to the person at the lobby doing my check-out and got no meaningful response or apology.
Taxi:
I ordered a taxi via the concierge the night before via telephone and was assured one would be there at 0625. However, I arrived at the ground floor and there was no taxi. 5 minutes later, a random one arrived.
Post-stay:
In the taxi, I phoned the hotel and explained to a Grand Club associate the issues at breakfast and the taxi and said I expected a response later that day. Nothing arrived.
I followed up via email and I should be receiving 10,000 points compensation which sounds fair.
Conclusion:
I'm not sure what breakfast should be like but I won't be going out of my way to stay at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai given the relatively poor Happy Hour offering at the Grand Club and merely inoffensive staff who don't possess great English-speaking skills. They should learn from the Grand Hyatt Beijing.

Had 2 one night stay this week. As a Globalist didn’t get upgraded the first night and low floor room (62) and in the second stay was upgraded to a suite (70th floor).
This property has nothing special, besides being on a tall building. The staff is very plain, don’t want to connect with frequent customers. I ‘ve stayed here almost 30 times in the past 3 years. Which property do you recommend in Shanghai for a Globalist? Now that I have to travel to Shanghai every month.
