Hyatt getting more strict on missing points
About once a year, I do a full "audit" of my FF accounts, and spend/waste a morning on the phone/fax with all of the Customer Service departments to get missing points and miles recredited. It usually yields about 25,000 - 50,000 points/miles for a few hours' work.
I've never had a problem with Hyatt until today, when I was told a strict "90 day" rule applies, even for Diamond members. You get a whole 90 days to contest any missing stays, and if not corrected within 6 months, they are gone forever. I asked why this is, especially since 1. their paper account statements are always at least 90 days in arrears, and 2. the entire account history is visible on the website. The answer: check the website every month. It's bad enough that few (if ever) of the bonuses make it through, but now I have to audit my statements every month and keep hounding them? That seems a little draconian, especially since I can look at my 8 years of Hyatt stays online. There goes 15,000 points down the toilet... |
My solution for ALL of my stays regardless
of property is writing on the top of all check-out invoices the for such as Hyatt stay with flight inbound on UA. B- base, B-bonus, GP- for GP bonus, A- paid with AMEX and therefore credit towards Live a Little promotion and UA. As stays post I check off each item to make sure I was credited. This comes after going almost crazy after RTW trips and trying to get every cent of credit from airlines and hotels. It works! |
Compared to other programs, Hyatt has the worst record, as far I'm concerned, with crediting the proper amount of points to your account. I have never had, for example, a GP2000 or similar bonus applied and have always had to call Gold Passport customer service to have these added to my account. Even though it is time consuming, I would recommend checking ever week or so to make sure that your stays were properly credited, especially if you are expecting bonuses.

Yes, it seems that the GP1000 and GP2000 promotions are so continually poorly mismanaged that their offer is tantamount to fraud. As a Diamond who regularly asks for them with the rez or at the front desks, I rarely see them on the account. Responses at Gold Passport have been historically so dilatory I would rather not bother trying to get the points than deal with GP.

Monitor.
I emailed GP recently re my 2 bonuses and they did post a few weeks later. One was in the actual points posted and I didnt notice it till I actually went into the bonus list so do check. |
I was told today, that HYATT Gold Passport has been instructed to strictly enforce their rules....

I usually try and explain the GP bonus' to the front desk staff even telling them the code to enter - that usually makes them post. As soon as the stay posts I check it and email Hyatt. I usually get mine posted in 7-9 days after the email with a nice acknowlegement email to tell me it's done.
I never thought I was that special, but am surprised that everyone else is having such a hard time. |
