Is this true...
...that Hyatt offers members points for meals, etc., purchased on their premises even though you not currently staying with them? I know this is possible with Starwood but not Hilton or Marriott. If so, what is the best way to go about securing these points - presenting your card to the restaurant and/or hotel front dest, or presenting your check to Hyatt CS? Thanks.

Not that I am aware of. They had a coupon
which I believe was targeted in which a number of people got 2,000 GP points. Ended EOM June. |
Actually this WAS true. (unfortunately notice the emphasis on WAS...) There is a thread on the topic. Basically you just show your GP card and you got points toward GP, but not stays / nights.

Boulderhopper-
As far as I am aware it was never true. I have been a GP member for over 10 yrs and have never received points unless staying in the hotel except for the 2000 dining bonuses sent to elite members every year. |
I don't know how to copy the "link" from an old thread, besides typing it, but I brought an old thread forward that I had remembered reading a long time ago. I typed Dining into the search to bring it forward. It is called "Points without a stay" by MileKing.

i talked to GP customer svc about this and was told that no points would be earned if the guest is not staying at the hotel.
and i guess this is why that on certain coupons, it specifically mentions that "GP points will be earned even if the guest is not staying at the hotel." |
