The hotel provides its own express shuttle service from HKG Arrivals. A very luxurious motor coach. Look for the Hyatt-branded booth across the lobby from Customs & Immigration exit and banking services. Separate charge. Per email correspondence on 7/11/19, this service is no longer offered by the hotel. Two alternatives are:
Hotel Limousine/MPV: HK$1150 per trip per car (Mercedes S-320) or 6-person MPV for HKD$1400
Airport shuttle service (3rd party): ''Vigor Airport Shuttle Service Limited'' located at Arrival Hall B-01. Take shuttle to Harbour View International Hotel (next door to GH). HK$140 per person per trip. This is no longer affiliated with the hotel, so tickets must be purchased directly from the vendor.

Diamond benefits as of 4 Sep 2016
  • Complementary Continental Breakfast (in lounge) 7AM 10:30AM Monday Friday & 7AM 11AM (Weekends & Public Holidays)
  • Diamond buffet breakfast also available in Grand Cafe
  • Complimentary Evening Cocktails - 5:30PM 7:30PM
  • All day complimentary tea, coffee, refreshments, and limited alcoholic beverages (not sure if this is in room or in lounge as lounge hours are 7AM midnight)
  • Complimentary 3 pieces laundry per day (standard service; not cumulative) for guests staying in a suite (not limited to Diamonds).
  • Grand Club meeting room 1 hour/day.

I contacted Hyatt and was assured the Hotel would act in "good faith" and it (Hotel) was made aware of Diamond benefits. I've printed out availability at the Hotel for the days we are staying. They are selling- Grand King, Grand Harbour King, Club King and Club Harbour King. I am taking the print out to the Hotel with me in hopes they will act in good faith. I will let you know my outcome.

RTW, when are you going to be there?

As I noted in the other thread on GC's:

I am potentially staying at the GH HK next weekend (12/3-12/8). Given that the hotel is very full during this period, I confirmed myself into a GC, City View King.

So, they got me to pay the extra rate for a GC room, but I didn't pay the extra $50 for a Harbor View room vs. a City View room, but hopefully -- especially since I've stayed at this hotel already 3x this year -- I will AT LEAST get a Harbor View upgrade...although the fact that the hotel is full is a concern.

My check in time would be about 6PM.

Hopefully, I will be going on this trip and will report back on check-in/upgrade experience.

Upgrades are based on availability during check-in and not on good faith (if you receive e.g. a suite or additional ammenities, then good faith comes into play). Your printouts show only that you should have booked one of the available Club Rooms if there is no upgrade availability during check-in.
If you want to arrive with printouts, take printouts that are more up-to-date (e.g. a few hours before your arrival though availability may have changed in the meantime, too. You can forget all printouts that are older than the morning of you arrival. You should better call reservations in order to be sure that there is availability at the time you check-in if you want to proof that the hotel refuses an upgrade).

One also has to remember that international Hyatt properties act very differently from the US. AFAIK in Asia, the Hyatts there want you to pay at least the worldwide corporate rate before you will be considered for any sort of upgrade.

I've never liked the GH HK only because of its far away location from Central. But given the exhorbitant room rates at the hotel, I'll only stay there when I redeem an award. I much prefer the Hyatt Regency in Kowloon. I know some of you hate that property too but I get treated very well there, so I might be biased.

We arrived early this morning. At check-in were originally given a room on 31st floor which I believe would also be Grand Club. Took room on higher floor which was available. Very pleased!

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong report 11/24/2004

Preface: We have friends who booked a trip to HKG for UA miles. They asked us to meet them and here we are. We came into HKG from LAX on Cathay Pacific in F using AA points. Leave from HKG to NRT on CX in F and then after a two night stay back to SFO on Japan Airlines in F. Our friends arrive tomorrow.

Rate: We are here using FFNs which as you may know had me concerned about a upgrade to Grand Club. I looked online and they had rooms available for our days so I arrived hopeful. I did contact the Gold Passport Concierge regarding our reservation. I only wanted the GH HKG to act in good faith to extend Diamond benefits. Thank you Ms Smith.

Transportation: Upon arrivel into HKG we used the Airport Express to Hong Kong Station. Please remember if you are on Cathay Pacific you can go to there website to get a coupon. Use this with your boarding pass to get a return ticket for $100 HKD. Otherwise $180 HKD. Upon arrival at the Station we could have taken the free shuttle bus. The Convention Center GH HKG is the last stop. Total travel time is 30 minutes with about a 1 minute walk to the Hotel. We used a cab. The fare with three pieces of luggage in the trunk was $30 HKD or $4 US. We intend to take the cab back to the Station. Also you can get a 30% discounted MTR (subway) day pass also with the coupons available at the CX website.

Check-in: We arrived at the Hotel around 8:45 AM and after a few minutes started the check-in procedure. I was a little concerned since we were not asked to proceed to the Grand Club to check-in. The room we were blocked for was on 31. That room was not ready. The lady stepped away to get her boss who promptly took over our check-in. I told him we were outbound early so on our last day no need for a late check-out. After couple of minutes he secured us a room with a great view on a higher floor. We are on Grand Club floor. The room is smoking but no hint of smoke. Full view. He escorted us to the room and showed us the works. Very pleased.

Perks: Upgrade to Grand Club floor w/ full view. We just came back from the Lounge and it is very nice. All that has been written about and more. Nice breakfast spread, newspapers and competent Concierge staff.

Room: The room is a ok size. With the best being made of space. A full view and nice bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. The room is well maintained with tv, dvd, fax, hsia at cost, day chair, working desk with chair and just nice touches.

Communication: Local calls $1 US and HSIA is $4 HKD per minute or $160 HKD for 24 hours.

Location: As stated before the location is not perfect. The views are. I've stayed at the Conrad and Island Shangri La. The views are unobstructed. We figure everything is just a small tab taxi ride away. According to rbAA the MTR station is only like 5 minutes away which works for us.

Closing: If anything comes up during our stay I will post. Pleased and so far for the second time being used this week- flawless. I love hotels with views like this. Regards from HKG

Good news

Glad to hear it went so smoothly. As I have told you, I have not had a problem with GH HK with Club access or room location, unless it was my choice to take a different room type. They always offer a harbor view, just not the right number of beds on each occasion. Enjoy.

FYI. We found a pastry shop coming back from the Wan Chai MTR in the Renaissance Hotel. After 6:00 PM they do a two for one. So buy one get one. We were wondering why some many items disappeared since we past it around 4:00 PM.

Couple of items. "800" calls from room are $35 HKD. The Grand Club reception has a selection of DVDs which may be borrowed by guests of the Club floors. There is a 110 outlet in the smallish cabinet under the makeup mirror located in the entry way.

It's a great hotel and I'm glad to hear that people are having good experiences there. My sister lives in HKG now so I don't stay there anymore but we still really love it and try to swing by for a drink or breakfast sometime during my stay.

I've also discovered that one of the most popular dates in HKG is the dessert buffet at the Grand Hyatt. It's really fantastic if you have a sweet tooth.

I also would have taken a smoking room if that meant you could get Regency Club Lounge access. Unfortunately from what I have read lately it is pretty tough to get club access, as a diamond I certainly have never had a club level room.

The lounge at this hotel is excellent, the view, the food and the atmosphere are top notch which is why so many diamonds are disappointed if they don't get it. The breakfast voucher does not come close by any stretch of the imagination to being equal to RC access.

Did you enjoy your diamond ammenity? Ha ha

I am sure your glowing report would have been very different if you did not get club access.

I agree it is a terrific hotel where I chose to stay for part of my honeymoon (of course not on a club floor - but that was Ok as back then you still got RC) and I am glad to hear that some diamonds are getting RC access when rooms available.

Without doubt. My report would not have been glowing had it not been for the Grand Club upgrade. The Hotel is a good 7 minute walk to the Wan Chai MTR Station. So it is not like being at the Conrad or Island which are atop Pacific Place and the Admiralty MTR stop. I think alot of it was timing. Such as this being Thanksgiving in the States and not many Americans being here. I have only spoken to two Americans in the Club. So other than us and our friends we are it.

I checked in for out second reservation yesterday around 3:00 PM. Once again receiving exceptional service from the Grand Club staff.

As a reminder a local call may be placed from the Hotel courtesy phones without charge. So to avoid the call charges in the room head in our case for the Club. I purchased a $50 HKD calling card from a exchange booth. Good for 150 minutes to the States. Used it at the Club.

All and all the Hotel is spectacular. We've been over to the Mandarin Oriental and Hyatt Regency. Neither compare. The Lobby of this Hotel is something. The views from the bar above the Lobby of the skyline are something.

during the week, the hotel offers free london taxi service, limited to HK island and available most of the day. i'm not sure if this is available to all guests or just a grand club service

I've stayed there several times before but not on the GC level (I wasn't a Diamond then) - what is the breakfast spread like at the GC? I had the full buffet downstairs and it was a very nice spread - dim sum spread, cooked veggies, warm sweetened soy milk, oatmeal, cereals, all sorts of pastries, great banana bread, salad, grape tomatoes, all sorts of fresh juices, great selection of fresh fruit (papaya, watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew), scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, pancakes.

We did not ask about the London Taxi service. I noted it on the internet pictures of the Hotel. I will make a mental note of that.

Breakfast. Full compliment of juices, fresh fruits, pastries, cereals, milks, sausage, ham/bacon, hash browns, scamble eggs, toasts, breads, salmon, cheeses so on and so forth. Of note. No dim sum or cooked vegies.

OK. We went high end today and have a couple of recommendations. We had one of our best meals ever Chinese at ye' shanghai located top floor of Pacific Place. The meal was great and the price for us both was less than $60 US. We both had facials at Mu-lan Spa located in Central. The Spa was clean and the staff was first rate. The facials were a little more than $60 US. I highly recommend them both. So does my wife. Leaving tomorrow. The stay was once again great at the Grand Hyatt. Regards
