Time to order another $1k worth. Thanks for the post!

Ok. I'm missing it. Can you publish the link to this? I don't see anything on the GP website.

Here is the info for the promo... Receive 5 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points for every US$ dollar you spend

Rather tricky to find! Must click on the link to purchase certs!

One other thing... If I purchase $1,000 worth of certs. I get 5k GP points. Do I get additional points when I stay at Hyatt, ie. 5 points for each dollar and the 30% bonus for Diamond? So... a hotel stay costing $1,000 could net me 11,500 points? (5k for purchasing certs, 5k for $1,000 hotel stay, 1.5k for bonus)

Compare in paying with credit card and the Hyatt Checks Cert. at an international property, will the exchange rate be much higher? I notice that some international property's posted exchange rate for using foreign currency or travel checks were much higher than the credit card company's.

Thanks for this post. I looked at the link
and ended up calling to order since I wanted
some questions answered. You get points for
order, points to GP for stays when using
like having cash and one year to use. Also
I have an expensive stay coming up this
weekend and had them rushed for Friday
delivery. OK I just got off the phone. Rush
delivery via FEDEX is $12.00. It is
necessary for me to fax a letter to them
which authorizes a charge in excess of
$1,000. I figure it as AMEX points for
charge, 5xGP per $ cert., GP points for stay
and Diamond bonus. Thanks again Off to send
my fax.

Another thing. Order smaller $ amounts than
you will use. They say no change given.

I have an expensive Hyat stay coming up. Has this been everybody's experience - - points for the certs purchase and points for using the certs like cash?

Only if you are staying in the US or your room rate is base on US$, otherwise your credit card's exchange rate is far better than the hotel's. You have to consider trade off between a few percent more of your total bill and the extra points.

Actually I am also thinking of doing this for my up coming stay at Park Hyatt Tokyo. My usual bill come up to US$ 2K+ for a four days stay plus food. So it is an extra 10K points for less than US$100 (I think half of what you paid to purchase from GP if you don't have enough points for an award).

My recent experience has been that when using these gift certs they do not credit any GP points - period. Only the remaining balance charged to a CC yielded the GP points! In fact I was not aware of this! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I have just the opposite experience using the Certs over the last 4 years. I have always gotten GP credit in terms of points nad nights stayed at US properties. I have used thenm without any problem at least 15 different properties.

Just a reminder that this promo expires 2/28/02.

Again, no GP points for me! Any explanation for the discrepancy? Thanks! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Looks like the offer has been extended to 6/30/02. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yow! I have an expensive stay in April but was unwilling to buy all of the certificates now.
