We stay here one weekend every month as we visit out grandchildren. We love this hotel. Not sure if it is because I have been Diamond/Globalist for 10 years, but we are always treated so well. The food in the restaurant is quite good also. We have always loved the Club on the 22nd floor, but starting this month they are closing it on the weekends. Instead you get the breakfast buffet free in the restaurant. You are correct in thinking that those room that end in 26 are much larger, have hardwood floors and big windows in both rooms. We stayed in 3126 last month and 4126 the month before. Enjoy your stay.

It's sad to hear about the weekend lounge closure, but I guess it's cheaper for hotels to do this since they no longer are required to offer points to Diamonds/Globs as compensation.

Do you know whether this property plans to offer vouchers for an appetizer or something?

In the middle of a 6 night stay here. So far so good.

Got the room I reserved (jr suite, or deluxe king, I am not sure what they are calling it anymore, but it is the large 550 sq ft room that was only 10$ more a night when I booked so I went for it). No upgrades, but I generally don't expect them. On a long haulway on the lowest floor with rooms, but I still have a partial downtown view and as I've stated upthread, that doesn't bother me as long as they are quiet, and I've barely heard any noise from the street.

I checked in on the app in the morning en route, and upon arrival at MSP about 1 PM, my room was ready.

At check-in, I was offered if I wanted late checkout on my last day. This seems to be a spotty benefit in practice unless you fight for it (or so others say), so the pro-active offer caught me off guard. It was very nice and appreciated as I have an afternoon flight that day and will indeed check out just a little later.

I requested extra towels to the concierge a couple days before check-in. The request seemed to have been ignored, as is just about always the case. I was in the room all day working (except work-out and meals), and when the room attendant came I just asked for extra towels, coffee, and toiletries, and he gave me twice what I need.

Stayfit Gym, like always, super big and well maintained. Plenty of chilled towels, dry towels, clean equipment, basketballs for use in the bball court. Really still is the best fitness center at a hotel I know of and better than just about any gym I've paid memberships for.

I've been eating in house thus far as I have had to focus on getting work done (though I will be hitting my favorite local eateries that are still open over the next few days)-- I have to say I am quite pleased with the food at the prairie kitchen grill and bar. The reviews are quite mixed on the place but every meal I've eaten has been 100% great as has the service.

Yes, their gym is amazing. I only wish they had a swimming pool.

Wow, that's a tragedy, as some of the finest restaurants in the country are within 5 blocks of the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 months while on assignment a few years back. It's a fantastic hotel. The concierge staff is about as good as you'll find anywhere.

Well, they do have a swimming pool, though it is nothing special.

And yes, Minneapolis has great restaurants. I lived only a block from here for 6 years and so know the area well. Unfortunately, one of my favorite dive-in eateries closed sometime in the last two years (Evergreen Taiwanese/Chinese down south from here on Nicollet.) It's a place that inspired a large part of my own chinese home-cooking. I will be eating out starting with dinner today--- first, I'm having to scramble to get a presentation together for the conference that brought me here so lunch is coming out of the case at the 'market' once again.

Room service this morning came right on time. Hot food was hot, cold food was cold. Potatoes still crispy. I have a high level of respect for room service to pull it all off as the potatoes have a lifespan of probably 10 minutes before they go from crisp to rubbery mush. Only thing I can pick on is that the butter was too cold to spread (until I let it sit nestled under the led with the hot food for a minute).

Have you tried the gym at the Hyatt (atop the Bellevue) in Philadelphia (which was briefly a PH)? It's a bit like downtown Minneapolis in that it's also a well respected and serious private health club oriented toward executives who work or possibly live downtown, but IIRC the Philadelphia version is larger and has more courts (basketball, racket ball, etc.) and more classes on offer. I think Philly has better options for members who want to pay extra for fancier locker room facilities.

Unfortunately both places have dated pools that strike me as depressing, although the one in Philly is more suited for swimming laps.

BTW, in Minneapolis the current best hotel gym and spa, with emphasis on luxury spa, would be at the Hotel Ivy (Starwood Luxury Collection). It has a big hot tub but unfortunately no pool. The Hilton's recent renovations included their gym, which some people like, but I haven't been in the Hilton in many years.

This is a great hotel. When you get a chance, have a chat with the evening club manager.

I don't want to share too much personal information on an internet forum, but suffice it to say that this gentleman is pure class and one of few who insists that you sign in with credentials in order to enter his club (I like it). Then he treats you like royalty.

Tell him you heard that he was the pride of Manhattan Island.

Well, I would be happy to but I don't have club access (not yet globalist) unless I pay for it.

Back from another monthly stay here. I can not say enough good things about this hotel. We got another Globalist upgrade upon checkin to a suite. It is sad though that the Club Lounge is closed on the weekends now. Breakfast buffet in the restaurant which is now what they give you is awesome, but we miss the afternoon snacks, appetizers and desserts. They were kind enough to send milk and cookies up to our room for our granddaughter. And KIRK is absolutley amazing!!

I had the buffet thrice while I was there -- I would say the breakfast buffet was amazing if you got there early enough, but the one day I ate the buffet late (it was around 8) the salmon was gone, the eggs were inedible, and the sausages were becoming rubbery. I opted for the "benedict" off the menu a couple times and it was top notch (and the room service breakfast was very good as well). (I was paying for my breakfast as a non-glob, and the buffet was 19$ including coffee, which felt like a good value when the buffet was good).

going to be staying here in a couple weeks. Are there any rooms in this property bigger than the exec suite? If so how do I book them. I have 6 people with me and i'd prefer not to have to book multiple rooms.

There's a presidential suite and another special suite that one might call the vice presidential suite. The presidential suite used to have a library or office area, but I believe it was removed during a recent renovation. There's also at least one one-bedroom suite on a high floor at the end of a hallway that has a huge master bath with a garden tub.

Many of the suites have an additional (optional) connecting room, so that most of the one bedroom suites easily can become two-bedroom suites.

Watch out for the junior suites on low floors. They're large rooms with an additional Murphy bed. IIRC they're the official standard suite upgrade.

I am pretty sure the standard suite is the deep 1 bedroom executive suites on floors 3-5? I nearly always stay in one when I'm there but think I've always just paid cash because it is often just 5 or 10 bucks a night more when I book and thus not worth a tsu burn.

I am staying here now actually. Yesterday their internet was down, so check in was a bit messy and they had to escort people to rooms because they couldn't make new key cards, unless you got the app mobile key working. I thought they handled it well, and this morning was gifted 2500 points for the inconvenience. I'm happy enough with that.
