The rooms have all been renovated at this hotel, but their bathrooms could surely use more upgrade. I just don't understand why they would remodel the whole hotel but cheap out on replacing their tubs. Tubs are already obsolete with all new hotels installing walk-in showers. It's not like they are going to get another renovation in the next 15 years...

I completely agree.

Or at least upgrade the hardware in the showers- a new faucet/showerhead would go a long way.

I stayed here couple days ago as a diamond member.
I booked a standard two double beds room but used one of my expiring diamond suite upgrades to get a VIP suite with two double beds (room 2224 and 2226).
The hotel is newly renovated as mentioned by everyone. I also agree that it is pity they did not upgrade the shower.
The VIP suite is two connecting room. The bedroom is a standard room. The living room is very large with a dining table good for 8 people, a bar area, a big L-shaped sofa that may sleep two people and also a separate restroom wish shower. It is about the size of two standard rooms.
Our room is facing to the South thus we have a view of big parking garage underneath and a partial Ohio river view.
According to the floor plan, there is another VIP suite that is facing the North. Room 2202 is a super large room, which I assume is the presidential suite and also face South to the Ohio river and Kentucky.

We spent most of our time in the casino so did not get to check other parts of the hotel.
There is a shuttle stopping at the Hyatt Regency, Hilton and Westin provided by the casino that runs every 30 mins. The shuttle driver told us that after 4PM, there will be two shuttles operating this route, so 15 mins each.

During the check in, the agent told me that since there is no regency club diamond breakfast is normally a free buffet in the lobby restaurant Red Roost Tavern for all registered guests. However, due to the low occupancy, there was no buffet setup. Thus I was allowed to order a la carte.
The food quality is ok but nothing spectacular. The side chicken sausage was a bit burned.
My bill was around $61 including taxes and tips for two dishes, two sides, two coffee and two juices.
During the checkout, i was quoted about $22 for the breakfast. I assume they simply deduct the price of two buffets at around $20 each (have no idea how much is the buffet).
Considering the diamond benefit is "complimentary full breakfast inclusive of one entrée (or standard breakfast buffet), juice and coffee (tax, gratuity and service charges included)" and the two sides we ordered were $3.5 each. I would say the diamond breakfast offering here is within the rule but can be a little more generous.

Overall a good stay and good value for the rate I paid. Hope this review helps.

Staying here for a bit. Hotel is very clean and modern. My room had the no-bath tub shower. Bathroom and room were both clean, if a bit small. Have not explored the hotel much, but it seems to be interconnected with a large shopping center through skywalks which is nice. Lobby area has a very open design, and the fitness center has the basics. Have not been to the indoor pool yet.

Breakfast was your typical Regency buffet which is a pretty great selection. Comped as a Diamond member. Going to be enjoying my stay here.

This hotel is playing shenanigans with award availability it seems. Continuing to sell standard rooms on Hyatt.com and 3rd-party sites, but not making awards available. Hopefully I'll stay here in the near future. The cash price is still competitive, but I'd like to try the Westin.

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/mone...deal/29556977/ Not sure what if anything really affecting the property but it seems like a new ownership is in the works.

I just completed a stay here at it was great. Something like $25X4 per room of Diamond breakfast credits in the restaurant. The food is really excellent. What a great stay. I stayed here years ago mid-renovation and was not impressed. This is the best HR I have been to in the states for sure. The rooms are not that special, but the service was exceptional.

This is a pretty typical Midwestern Regency in terms of the physical plant.

It gives off a strong 1980's vibe in terms of the hallway and room architecture and decor, and the fit and finish in the rooms is pretty mediocre. The missing grout and stained shower curtains in the bath, complemented by peeling wallpaper and mis-fit marble on the bathroom counter, don't give a strong impression of excellence.

However, the service is pretty good, including cheerful staff and generally helpful attitudes from all the employees. The concierge service is very good in terms of guidance and suggestions for visitors for driving directions, eateries, tickets, etc.

I particularly like the library of white-bound books in the lobby. Several Hyatts around the world have small libraries (the one in Seoul probably being the best) up on the club level, but in Cincinnati someone has taken the time to bind the covers in all white, giving a pleasing artistic effect, and displayed out in the public areas for all guests to see.

On the downside, the humidity in the rooms is just unreal, and the wall unit HVAC system really cannot handle the midsummer swelter than envelopes the rooms, leaving all within smelling musty and feeling generally grim.

In terms of parking, I recommend selecting any one of a number of garages on the same block as the HR, all of which charge half the price or less of using the Hyatt garage overnight for $30.

The business center on the second floor, accessible with the room card, has the nice "print your boarding pass for free" feature, and the printer was working fine AND had paper during my visit.

From the HR to the airport takes 30 minutes or less, barring some sort of accident on I-71 or the 275.

Currently here. Hotel is fine. I have trouble distinguishing the Cincinnati Hyatt from the Cincinnati Westin, I think they're even shaped the same. The Westin is two blocks closer to the court house. Eh.

It seems like the most recent renovation took care of whatever bathroom issue there was -- the rooms appear to be fairly newly refreshed.

A positive: I was invited to a reception for Globalists this afternoon (5:30-7:00) with beer, wine, and hors d'oeuvres. It was a fairly good spread, and helps make up for the lack of lounge or welcome amenity. One oddity was that the invite was "sent by the manager" but no manager was at the reception; instead it was a sales or marketing director and someone else in a similar but lower position. They were very hospitable but didn't seem knowledgeable at all about the changes to World of Hyatt, and instead seemed focused on how to compete with the other Cincinnati properties. I tried communicating that the main deficiency on my side was World of Hyatt's deficiency--and that the little reception did at least something to close the gap, although random unannounced things like invite-receptions can't really do that--but I'm not sure the message got across.

Ratio of regular rooms to suites is like 491 to 14 (12 studio suites and 2 big ones), so odds are heavily against suite upgrades (I'm in a bog standard hotel room facing the city).

Internet speed is okay. Tried to do a video call on Skype last night and it worked for a while and then schitzed out.

Edited to add:

Would probably not return. Checkout was unapologetically a pain in the butt. No other Cincinnati hotel has handled tax-exempt forms with such incompetence (and this with three agents at the desk to check me out). Then I had also been charged for Internet and breakfast, so they went back to make me a third receipt. Then they managed to take off the Internet and one of the breakfasts but not the second because it had been coded as lunch. Only then with more wrangling was that breakfast also taken off. They said the servers should have charged the breakfast to a different account; both servers at breakfast acknowledged my breakfast voucher. Anyhow. Front desk held me up for 20 minutes, which then put me into rush hour by the time I left. I asked for a manager to give me a call to discuss, mentioning that I'd be on a drive for a while -- agent said "absolutely." No one called. Pretty clear signal of "we don't really care if you come back," so I won't. It's also absurd that there's not an automatic mechanism to flag that a Globalist is being charged for Internet or breakfast.

I'd also note that the breakfast buffet was fairly good on Wednesday morning at 6:45 a.m., but very picked over on Thursday morning at 10 a.m., and with pools of water forming in the yogurt, for example.

Does anyone know if there's a club lounge here? I'm Explorist, not Globalist, so no free breakfast for me in a restaurant. I have club upgrades to spare, and would use one if there's a lounge to use it in. I've learned to ask first, bc they let me use one earlier this year at Tyson's Corner even though the lounge there is closed on weekends. (They said they'd return the cert to inventory, but it never happened.) Thanks

As per the hotel website there is none, as there is no "RC Room Type"

That was my guess as well, but wasn't sure the lack of club rooms for sale was proof of no club. Makes sense to me though. Thanks!

that's true, if not available for sale. That's why I always check the Room types description, and usually the RC-rooms are listed separately, which is not the case for this hotel.

They used to have a club, but turned it into a bar or something after the renovations. It was great getting the Diamond closed club bonus during renovations.
