Airport Transportation
The following thread and its wiki provide all the information one needs to know about taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport: Catching a Taxi at BKK and general Thailand taxi discussion [SEE WIKI FIRST] The wiki discusses the breakdown of taxi fares from the airport to central Bangkok where Grand Hyatt Erawan is located, and addresses the possibility of being slightly overcharged by a taxi driver.
Alternatively, Grand Hyatt Erawan offers airport transfers in its own fleet of silver Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-class sedans. The prices of these service are S-Class THB 3,300 (net) per one way transfer (per post 1976) and E-Class THB 2,500 (per post 1975) to or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Guests using this service will be greeted by a representative at the airport, assisted with their luggage, and escorted to the waiting car.
For an additional charge, the hotel can also arrange "Fast Track" (VIP lane) immigration clearance, as well as the option of being met at one's arrival gate by a buggy and escorted through Fast Track immigration. This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.
AOT (and perhaps other companies) also provide transfers from and to the airport. Various vehicle types are available at different price points: Camry (THB 1,200 one way), Mercedes E-Class (THB 2,400 one way).
I always use http://www.limousine.in.th for my car needs in BKK incl airport transfers. 1050 THB from BKK to the city, 900 THB city to BKK (incl tolls).
UBER no longer operates in Thailand. Instead, use GRAB. Similar to UBER, prices will vary. On my trip, I was able to get a GRAB for 364 THB from BKK.
Taxi should run between 400-500 THB. If going from the hotel to BKK, the hotel will quote 500 THB. I had to wait for a few taxi's as the first two didn't want to do unless I paid 750 THB.

What actually happened that was so bad? I’ve stayed there many times over the past years and never had a bad stay.
Gordon Fuller, who took over the GH Erawan after having been the GM of GH HKG referring to the previous GM who retired back in November.
The current GM came from the GH SIN.

No internet would frustrate me as well. You should be aware though that quite a few name hotels in Bangkok have similar bars. You're not in Kansas anymore So I don't really think that's a reason to tar the GH. As far as room hardware, the same could be said for SGS, but many are quite loyal to that property.

It sounds like it was helvetic's 1st time at the GH - and wonder if maybe 1st time in BKK?
Agree - no internet is an issue - but seems like that would have been resolved at the time?...he is Globalist, so assume he was using the lounge - I've always been pleased with the service there. The Concierge desk has also gone out of their way to help me with both restaurant & golf reservations on multiple occasions.
I do agree (and posted back in Jan) - that I have had issues with the button controls in the rooms recently. They definitely need an upgrade to those controllers.
Lastly, yes Spasso is one of "those" bars...but the Bar 494 right around the corner is a viable alternative

It is not my first time in Bangkok, though yes, first time at the GH. I am not bothered by the existence of such a bar, I am bothered by the lack of a real non-prostitution bar. A real hotel bar is an important amenity. If a hotel wants to offer prostitution services, it should not let it detract from the quality of its main bar. I didn't notice there being more than one bar option (if there was, the staff certainly didn't inform me).
I've stayed at and visited a number of BKK properties and never had any such issues at: the Le Meridien, Marriott Soi57, St. Regis, Sofitel, Waldorf Astoria.
No working internet is a dealbreaker. Some of us do work.

Respectfully, the hotel doesn’t offer prostitution services.
As was mentioned, you have 494 wine bar and the cigar-whiskey bar right next to the deli which is right next to Spasso. Add to that You & Me next to 494. There are 5 different venues down on that floor.

Perhaps there were other bars open at that time, it didn't seem to be the case, and if it was it certainly wasn't obvious. If the staff had bothered to explain the amenities at check-in, perhaps I would've found a more relaxing bar — though given the ruckus, I doubt anything within a few stories of the LL floor would be relaxing. You could hear nightclub level noises all the way in the main lobby.
None of the other other hotels I've mentioned felt like walking into a Nana Plaza or Patpong establishment.
I'm not here to judge prostitution — I'm all for it and think it should be legalized and destigmatized. I am here to complain about the lower quality of this hotel, as a guest. I think you'd be hard pressed to call this property a five-star luxurious experience. Simply put, the experience of going to the hotel bar is trashy, not classy. As a guest, I'm looking for something better from an in-house bar.

Just completed a stay there. I was upgraded to a spa cottage suite. I think breakfast ended at 1030am in the Grand Club. You also have the option of the breakfast buffet. Then evening food/drinks were 530p-730p. After that, it's coffee, tea, soda at any time as I went in to get bottled waters after midnight.

You mentioned the breakfast buffet - is that option available to any member with club lounge access (e.g., Explorists using a Club Lounge Access Award), or only for Globalists?

Globalists for sure as you get a letter at check-in outlining the benefits. Also, Globalists check-in in the Grand Club and not the lobby. Not sure if you get the same benefits for any member with club lounge access or if you book a suite.
