Airport Transportation
The following thread and its wiki provide all the information one needs to know about taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport: Catching a Taxi at BKK and general Thailand taxi discussion [SEE WIKI FIRST] The wiki discusses the breakdown of taxi fares from the airport to central Bangkok where Grand Hyatt Erawan is located, and addresses the possibility of being slightly overcharged by a taxi driver.
Alternatively, Grand Hyatt Erawan offers airport transfers in its own fleet of silver Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-class sedans. The prices of these service are S-Class THB 3,300 (net) per one way transfer (per post 1976) and E-Class THB 2,500 (per post 1975) to or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Guests using this service will be greeted by a representative at the airport, assisted with their luggage, and escorted to the waiting car.
For an additional charge, the hotel can also arrange "Fast Track" (VIP lane) immigration clearance, as well as the option of being met at one's arrival gate by a buggy and escorted through Fast Track immigration. This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.
AOT (and perhaps other companies) also provide transfers from and to the airport. Various vehicle types are available at different price points: Camry (THB 1,200 one way), Mercedes E-Class (THB 2,400 one way).
I always use http://www.limousine.in.th for my car needs in BKK incl airport transfers. 1050 THB from BKK to the city, 900 THB city to BKK (incl tolls).
UBER no longer operates in Thailand. Instead, use GRAB. Similar to UBER, prices will vary. On my trip, I was able to get a GRAB for 364 THB from BKK.
Taxi should run between 400-500 THB. If going from the hotel to BKK, the hotel will quote 500 THB. I had to wait for a few taxi's as the first two didn't want to do unless I paid 750 THB.

That's the same way I view the two of them. I have more stays in the SGS (70-80ish against 20-25ish) and I like the GHE but with top tier status in both my personal preferences put the SGS a couple of notches higher than the GHE.

I am at the GHE Grand Club now ona 3 night weekend stay. I was assigned a Grand Club room on 16th floor facing the the BTS tracks and Police General Hospital, no view of Sports Club. The room is fine since I am by myself so I don’t need a suite. Corporate when I booked was 800 BHT lower than SGS. Typical Thai hospitality, everyone was very nice.
Breakfast in the restaurant has maybe half the selection compared to SGS Orchid Café. Grand Club breakfast is actually quite good, with pomelo and rambutan, not available in the restaurant.
As Kacee pointed out up thread, calling Hyatt to apply TSU is difficult, I was told by WoH Globalist agent that only the hotel in house reservation agent can apply TSU for upgrade. So I asked the Grand Club agent to look up my reservation for May 2019 and apply my TSU for upgrade. This morning my reservation is showing Grand Suite King and 1 TSU has been used.
Grand Club is decent with limited selection of food items in the evenings. But I can get S. Pelligrino whenever I needed something to drink. As a red wine drinker, the Australian Shiraz is very serviceable, better than what’s available at JW Marriott Tomorrow Square in Shanghai, so the SGS happy hour options are not much of an advantage. My daughter would probably prefer the cocktails options at SGS better.
I don’t have a preference of location GHE vs SGS since I’m not working. It is nice to have great options in Bangkok.

I have not tried the Sunday brunch, because it's rather expensive at ~2300 THB. My colleague had the Sunday brunch in September and said it was very good. $70 brunch is too much for my taste, especially Bangkok, although the fancy Michelin starred French restaurant Sunday brunch is really expensive at >4000 THB..

A slow ~3-4hr + nibble and chat over some excellent F&B is a great way to while away a Sunday. The value can be quite good if you drink and eat a few things which would normally be a little exxy.

Long brunch (with the Champagne option) is also a bit of a pastime in a number of big cities in Asia, especially Singapore where alcohol is so expensive.

It is not targeted to staying hotel guests as much as it is to locals, who use it for ladies’ lunch gatherings or for entire families to get together. So go and enjoy it if that’s your thing. Definitely it’s excellent food and if you want a huge all you can eat brunch with lots of Champagne you’ll be in heaven. But, on the other hand, it’s not something to go out of your way for if it’s not your thing. It’s not like you would return home after your trip and say, “Damn, Bangkok was great but I really should have had that brunch at the hotel.”
Note that with the free flowing Champagne, tax and service charge, you are looking at over USD $100 per person. That can buy you a really great dinner at many restaurants in Bangkok, or at least cover part of the bill at high end places.

Cool, that's what I thought. Thanks Mike
Probably not the right thread for it, but do you have a couple of restaurant recommendations? Doesn't have to be near GHE or PH BKK per say.

And while I haven’t been to the GHE brunch, I’ve spent several Sunday afternoons with friends at the Sheraton Grande Sukhmuvit Jazzy brunch with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the lazy afternoon of listening to music, chatting with friends and forging on foie gras.

Fireplace Grill - steakhouse, InterContinental
Chef Man - Chinese, nearby
Haoma - delicious, bio dynamic “urban farm” restaurant with great cocktails
Charcoal - Tandoor cuisine and cocktails, Frasier Suites Sukhumvit
Spice Market - Thai traditional cuisine, Anantara Siam Bangkok
Opus - Italian restaurant and wine bar, Sathorn
Ginza Sushi Iichi - sushi, one michelin star, Erawan building (adjacent to Grand Hyatt Erawan)
Tables - Grand Hyatt Erawan
Baan - Thai homestyle cuisine, Wirless Road
Zuma - Japanese inspired fusion cuisine and cocktails, St. Regis hotel ground floor
All of these will be a wonderful experience. Go at dinner time for the best atmosphere, although some are also open for lunch.

I am here now - did get Grand Suite upg in advance with TSU for a 6 night stay.
I was disappointed that they (so far) have not had the rambutan or pomelo in the CL. Otherwise, all is the same as usual.
I will also say these rooms are starting the wear - well, I guess not starting, they continue to wear down. The last 2-3 stays I have really noticed things - esp the electric switches in the rooms. Lights don't work properly, etc.
Also, really not liking the Illy machine vs. Nespresso in the suite. Oh well...1st world problems

This place is a disaster, I don't understand why any of you rate it so highly. Will be checking out early tomorrow and moving somewhere better. WiFi doesn't work at all, and the staff weren't able to fix it. The rooms are dated at best. I'd be checking out on the spot if it wasn't 2am (arriving from a late flight).
Also the hotel bar is literally a brothel. The talent was attractive, so I guess that's a plus.
