Airport Transportation
The following thread and its wiki provide all the information one needs to know about taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport: Catching a Taxi at BKK and general Thailand taxi discussion [SEE WIKI FIRST] The wiki discusses the breakdown of taxi fares from the airport to central Bangkok where Grand Hyatt Erawan is located, and addresses the possibility of being slightly overcharged by a taxi driver.
Alternatively, Grand Hyatt Erawan offers airport transfers in its own fleet of silver Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-class sedans. The prices of these service are S-Class THB 3,300 (net) per one way transfer (per post 1976) and E-Class THB 2,500 (per post 1975) to or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Guests using this service will be greeted by a representative at the airport, assisted with their luggage, and escorted to the waiting car.
For an additional charge, the hotel can also arrange "Fast Track" (VIP lane) immigration clearance, as well as the option of being met at one's arrival gate by a buggy and escorted through Fast Track immigration. This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.
AOT (and perhaps other companies) also provide transfers from and to the airport. Various vehicle types are available at different price points: Camry (THB 1,200 one way), Mercedes E-Class (THB 2,400 one way).
I always use http://www.limousine.in.th for my car needs in BKK incl airport transfers. 1050 THB from BKK to the city, 900 THB city to BKK (incl tolls).
UBER no longer operates in Thailand. Instead, use GRAB. Similar to UBER, prices will vary. On my trip, I was able to get a GRAB for 364 THB from BKK.
Taxi should run between 400-500 THB. If going from the hotel to BKK, the hotel will quote 500 THB. I had to wait for a few taxi's as the first two didn't want to do unless I paid 750 THB.

Are you a "regular" there? I've had places where they know me, not give a letter/list of benefits since they figure I know them already.
But always if you ask "can I see the Globalist list of benefits" it was always provided.

This is my belief as to why I didn't receive a letter on my recent stays. However I also wasn't informed that breakfast could be had downstairs which is unfortunate.

Again, maybe they were only offering to their "known" Diamonds - repeat customers? I've only stayed there 3 times in the past 2 years (and just 4-7 nights per stay), so I am not "high" volume. This was my 1st stay as a Glob, so I didn't know if that offer changed with the new WoH program last March.
I just know that I generally always ask...oh well, not that big a deal.

Yeah, just like others report that in the past they got breakfast downstairs - even though my recollection was that I did ask and was told "no".

Handed that letter both at check-in, and it was also in the suite when we arrived. First time guest at GH Erawan.
The dark glass building to the right of the picture looks to be the Renaissance. Another option for these with SPG Plat since that's now Marriott Plat, which gives you breakfast at the Flavors restaurant, club access with breakfast, tea, canapes and drinks (liquors available were at a lower level than GH E), 1 free laundry item per night, 20% off F&B. However, their service is inconsistent, with some great employees mixed in with the meh.

Expanding on the OT Out of the 50+ nights we have had at the Ren, we were allowed only once to have breaky at the 2nd floor restaurant for 2 people + kids under certain age. I let my mother in law take my seat with wife and kids and had the lounge breakfast.

Got the impression that the lounge desk lady (she leaves ~7pm and has shoulder length permed hair) was perhaps stingy or inept due to other issues. She was almost rude at the end of check in - basically ordered us to wear proper wea We went back to this guy, he took ownership of the issue, and fixed it quite satisfactorily. Won't be surprised if he makes it to a higher level hotel - the likes of StR, MO, etc.
And oh yes, that lady was borderline rude at the end - remember to wear proper attire to lounge, no bathrobes! That's unthinkable for me.
IMO, the marriott forum is really messy - it'd probably be just as easy to find this info here than there.

Very nice stay with suite upgrade cert
We are staying now at the GH in a lovely corner suite on the 17th floor. Our welcome letter does include option for breakfast buffet on first floor which we enjoyed. One night we had champagne and apps at the lounge which was nice. Guests get access to fitness center and 2-3 exercise classes a day. Only downside is pool is closed from Feb 22-April 12 except for 6-7 pm each day(bad timing, we are always busy). We used airport transfer in Toyota for 1800 baht, we were met promptly despite aircraft late arrival and lounge staff met us in lobby for in-room check in. Very happy with stay.

Had a brief overnight here recently. No welcome letter given, so I can't say whether it included breakfast in the restaurant. No one mentioned that at check-in (and I was leaving too early for breakfast any way, so I didn't ask).
They tried to give me a room on 17 right across from the service entrance to the Grand Club. No thanks. Wound up in a room on 18 with the BTS view.
My last Hyatt stay as a Globalist . . . out not with a bang, but a whimper. (By contrast, SGS upgraded me to the Raja Suite, which has an outdoor garden and private sundeck.)

First time in Bangkok
How does the GH compare with the Park Hyatt?
I have been dowgraded to Explorist and have club upgrade vouchers, considering booking this using points and using club upgrade
I am also interested in the Conrad and St Regis, which area is best to stay in?
I am on a leisure trip, looking for places to go out and eat / drink in evening and a good pool and spa.
