Airport Transportation

The following thread and its wiki provide all the information one needs to know about taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport: Catching a Taxi at BKK and general Thailand taxi discussion [SEE WIKI FIRST] The wiki discusses the breakdown of taxi fares from the airport to central Bangkok where Grand Hyatt Erawan is located, and addresses the possibility of being slightly overcharged by a taxi driver.

Alternatively, Grand Hyatt Erawan offers airport transfers in its own fleet of silver Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-class sedans. The prices of these service are S-Class THB 3,300 (net) per one way transfer (per post 1976) and E-Class THB 2,500 (per post 1975) to or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Guests using this service will be greeted by a representative at the airport, assisted with their luggage, and escorted to the waiting car.

For an additional charge, the hotel can also arrange "Fast Track" (VIP lane) immigration clearance, as well as the option of being met at one's arrival gate by a buggy and escorted through Fast Track immigration. This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.

AOT (and perhaps other companies) also provide transfers from and to the airport. Various vehicle types are available at different price points: Camry (THB 1,200 one way), Mercedes E-Class (THB 2,400 one way).

I always use http://www.limousine.in.th for my car needs in BKK incl airport transfers. 1050 THB from BKK to the city, 900 THB city to BKK (incl tolls).

UBER no longer operates in Thailand. Instead, use GRAB. Similar to UBER, prices will vary. On my trip, I was able to get a GRAB for 364 THB from BKK.

Taxi should run between 400-500 THB. If going from the hotel to BKK, the hotel will quote 500 THB. I had to wait for a few taxi's as the first two didn't want to do unless I paid 750 THB.

isnt it a shame that this hotel is not more Thai-friendly?
its a lovely hotel.
I have been getting attitude since I first stayed there 12 yrs ago
I would normally stay there for the duration of my stay in BKK but because of the attitude I will split my stays as lovtofly3 has
someone has asked what I mean by Thai-friendly
sorry I think my puinctuations are incorrect! I mean more Thai

I feel that the Thai people are extremely friendly.
I feel that they are the MOST grascious and friendly people that i ahve ever met in the world!
I decided not to edit as to explain the comment for those that had PMd me!

It's a shame......with all these reports of attitude at the GH BKK....

It's no surprise that the attitude exist at the Hua Hin property too, since most of the Hua Hun staff got training from GH BKK!!!

Hold on. In my experience, the GH staff are friendly and welcoming; the issue here is that Diamonds are less likely to be singled out for extra benefits as they are at many other properties.

The GH remains one of the best central-location hotels in BK, and the club lounge is one of the better one in the Hyatt chain.

you must remember that as diamond we do do 50 bums in beds nights so therefore should be "singled out"
Are you diamond as it says you are
are you paying the cheaper rate like 185 or are you on a corp rate

AH maybe you are PAYING for regency access.
maybe that makes all the difference.

I am Diamond, and I pay a corp rate of $130++. In Sept I had 2 stays at the Erawan; the 3-night stay was in a suite with RC privs (suite upgrade cert, not confirmed until check-in), and a second 1-night stay was in a regular room w/RC privs.

In between, I stayed at the IC, where I'm top tier and had a corp rate of $101++. I was upgraded to a suite, but no club privs.

For me, the ambience and terrific food in the Hyatt lounge trumps a no-lounge suite at the IC. YMMV. And it's not a burden to stay in either joint.

Well I've never stayed at the Hua Hin property but if they were trained in the BKK Erawan you don't stand a chance,Hey this Thailand were Diamonds are lucky to get clean sheets. On the other hand you could come down to the Sheraton Grande Laguna where elites a very well recognized for the same price.

.
Well let me say I had 3 1 night stays at Erawan and 1 upgrade coupon. I told the RC Sup. I would prefer to use it on the 1st stay or 3rd stay,in true Erawan fashion she gave me a suite on my 2nd stay, least prefered when I was checked in for 14 hrs, ain't she nice.

When I went to visit the Regency Club on the 17th floor in person a few days before my stay I was told I could have a Suite on my 1st stay. Well, when I checked in at 3pm,4 days latter she said there was none left. Now I'm talking about the RC Manager, not some staff. The only thing I can surmise is a VERY large enclave of German tourist with there numerous Blonde children about 12 of them probably were given the suites,as you know Thais are very fond of western kids, In the morning the one room in thr GC was like a kindergarten loud and noisy. AS for the 3rd stay she did say it was quite tight, and I understand.

Thumbs up Best Grand Hyatt Hotel - GH Erawan BKK

I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok and was mightily impressed by all aspects of the property.

The service and attention to detail was faultless and left me smiling time and time again. The staff on the Club level were truly first rate and the famous 'Thai smile' always abounded. The room attendants were wonderful, security courteous and management very friendly. I spent a wonderful two weeks at this property and look forward to my next stay very much.

This Hyatt property has my business (6 to 12 plus weeks a year) for the indefinite future. The hyatt group gets the balance of my travel dollar.

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok - what a fabulous hotel. :-: :-: :-: :-: :-:

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok - the diamond standard for which all Hyatt properties should aspire.

Yes I know. It has been my 'home' in BKK for the past 10 years. I should be hitting my 200th stay by the end of this year.

Have you tried the i-sawan spa cottages yet? The rooms are fab.. and they are run seperately from the main hotel. ie no upgrades to these rooms.

I agree that the GH Erawan is a top notch business hotel in BKK. Other hotels may be better for leisure customers in spa, food, etc.. but GH beats them all handsdown for efficiency and friendliness..

I am thinking of going during April around before Easter. Cheapest corporate rate I could find is $120 per night.. even the hyatt.com rate is a bit higher than before... Anyone have corporate codes that are lower?

Wow.. how'd you get even get the US$120 rate?

You mean I have been paying US$168 all along when I could have gotten it cheaper??

The food at the GH Erawan is amongst the best for in Bangkok. Note how packed it is with local Thais during the famous brunches and dinners!

Ahhhh. Mangoes and sticky rice ! Yum!
