Well u and I have completely different experiences! First they didn't know what a Diamond Suite e-cert was, then when trying to book it was told it was confirmed at check-in, in the end I decided to just call the US Diamond line which I do every time now.

Just to retest recently I made a call to apply another upgrade cert and was told "someone will call you back." Sorry, but I expect instant customer service if I am calling you and waiting on hold.

Great city views from both my 30th floor room and 31st floor Club Lounge. This one is from the 31st floor with others linked in the Hyatt gallery below. That's the Crown Casino along the Yarra River on the far left side.

My welcome card from the GM says "An interior design of the hotel's guest rooms is currently underway, with the hotel's premium suites, Grand Club loune, and the Club floors now complete."

On arrival yesterday I was offered the option of checking in at the Grand Lounge on 31, so off I went. Warm welcome there and was provided an informational sheet covering Diamond amenities at this property, including the hot breakfast option in the Collins Kitchen for an extra $A20. I'm one floor below with a view directly over Federation Square (I can watch their big screen TV from my room) and the Performing Arts Center beyond it.

Last night I popped in for some champagne at 7pm and snacks (wontons, barramundi, cheese, tortilla chips and guacamole, chips, strawberries and petite cake slices). Really couldn't ask for more and service was excellent.

Didn't notice any English muffins in the bread basket this morning, though they did have two kinds of bread for toast. Good selection of cereals, yogurts (I had muesli with strawberry yogurt), banana bread, pastries, and cut fruit (pineapple, melons). Three juices available (I had pineapple).

Very happy with my stay so far. Just couldn't ask for a better location in the center of the city. Just back from Richmond and Chapel Street.

great shot, there is a 3000 bonus on at the moment because of the club upgrade (been closed), don't forget to ask for it.

tom911, I'm here too. I must say that I am very impressed with the refurb of the club rooms and the club lounge. The club deluxe rooms are still larger at the Park Hyatt, but the refurb now makes it hard to decide which property to choose!

Though I tend to lean toward the Park Hyatt on the rooms and beds however I
have become a Grand Hyatt Melbourne fan for the following reasons over the years

• It has solid management and a long time consistent track record taking care of guests in a stand up manner
• Great location
• Amongst the best run health club fully equipped gyms with new high quality equipment in Melbourne with exceptionally professional and friendly staff
• The food is very good through in room dining though pricey
• Even a simple concern about pre-renovation rooms was met with a rapid response from the GM himself by email in clear detail
• Well run Regency Club and nicely remodeled public areas

I have avoided the Park Hyatt for years because of a rare unpleasant GM by the name of Arthur Holliger
He was not guest friendly (though most of the team was) and would not respond to guest concerns of others self included). The word on the street is there is new manager on board. I think there is good chance I would give the hotel a try again. For years I suggested to corporations and individuals to stay away from this hotel
I avoided the Park Hyatt once again on my last stay not aware of management change. I’m am delighted to hear Mr.Holliger retired from what I read online. Guests can hopefully find the Park Hyatt a wonderful hotel again besides the accommodations alone and recognition factor. Hyatt may have a new manager on board who is indeed gifted with the Hyatt Touch many of us have come to know making either property a good choice

Well I'm at the Park Hyatt now thanks to The Big Welcome and GP bonuses

Were either of you in the Club Lounge last night? I was in a black suit using a Macbook pro...

I've been in the last two nights after 7 but don't recall seeing you. I was probably only there for 15 minutes at most. I'm waiting for a phone call around 6 on dinner plans so may not make it up there tonight. If I do, it will be just for a few minutes after 6.

We are doing at FT dinner tomorrow night (Thursday, June 3) if either of you want to join us. See the thread in Community.

I did make it down there yesterday afternoon and used a treadmill to run (9 of them there IIRC, and plenty of other equipment). Great facility and hope to find time to pop in tomorrow afternoon.

I have just noticed the room type Spa King which is 45 m sq. http://melbourne.grand.hyatt.com/hya...ocale=&start=7

Under the Diamond best room available benefit, shouldn't this be the room type that one is upgraded to rather than just the Club King.

Reports on FT suggest if you were to make an early morning arrival at the Park Hyatt Sydney you would get breakfast on that morning. I'll be staying at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne in a couple of weeks, arriving at the hotel off a midnight flight from Perth about 8am. What are my chances of being able to have breakfast in the lounge?

They don't have to check you in that early, but if they can, you will have access to your room. If you have access to your room, than as a Diamond you should have club access. If you have club access, and there is food in the club, then you should be able to eat. Why wouldn't you?

Thank you. Yes, of course, they have no obligation and if they can't check me in at that time I will not be one bit upset.
