Late check out for Diamond

I requested a late check out 3:30pm at the Park Hyatt Seoul for an upcoming trip. After sending an email, the reply I received was that for Diamond members the latest they can guarantee is 2:00. With the exception of resorts, isn't late check out 4pm? Is is up to the discretion of the Hotel to make that call or is the reservation agent at the hotel wrong.

This is from the Hyatt website which describes the benefits of Diamond membership. Extend your stay until 4:00 p.m. with a late check out request with a clause that states subject to availability at Hyatt resorts and casinos. Not available at Hyatt Residence Club Resorts.

Thanks... My flight is on a Tues at 7pm. When I did a search earlier there was mention of a new check out time for Diamonds for 2pm. That was posted back in 2010.

I think there is a lack of education on the part of hotel employees about this relatively new benefit. I requested a 4 p.m. check-out at a Hyatt Place recently and was told the benefit was only until 2 p.m. They weren't that full, so they ultimately agreed to 4 p.m., but insisted I was wrong about 4 p.m. being a stated benefit.

My suggestion to the OP would be to either call the CS center or PM the Gold Passport Concierge staff here on Flyertalk to ask them to remind the hotel of the T&Cs.

After they wanted to charge me 50%, I did email them again and copied the member benefits, and asked if they could not accommodate to let me know so I could make other arrangements. I decided to copy the GM since I wasn't getting anywhere.

Afterwards, I did email GP Concierge and they will contact the hotel on my behalf. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks GP concierge, and FT members for the advice.

Has anyone had issues at Hyatt Place recently with 4 PM late checkout requests? I have an upcoming stay at a Hyatt Place, and it's my first stay at a Hyatt Place since I've been a Diamond where I actually want the 4 PM late checkout...

Generally, what I've found is that most Hyatt Regency locations will give me the 4 PM check-out no problem upon request (95% of them). I've never had an issue at any Grand Hyatt or Park Hyatt, though I've never been to PH Seoul. Within that 95% of Regencys, about half will always tell me that I didn't even need to ask because it was already guaranteed for me (which is nice). Hyatt Regency San Francisco/Embarcadero comes to mind. Then there's the remaining 5% of Regencys that seem to either not have a clue about this benefit, or grudgingly give it to me as if they are bending over way backward for me. It definitely would be nice to have 100% consistency on this benefit, as I think it's one of the best benefits of being a Diamond!

I have had a Hyatt Place late check out problem

I've had two recent stays at a Fort Worth Hyatt Place and both times when I asked for a late check out I've received a "Sure, we can mark you down for 2:00" type response. This is a property I stay at often and each of the past two times I've spoken with a different host, including one who's generally very knowledgeable about Gold Passport benefits. It does make me think that some properties try to discourage 4:00 PM checkouts. Since I really just wanted some time by the pool I didn't fuss and agreed to the 2:00 checkout.

I fail to see the problem - if you don't know your rights, then good on the hotel employees for playing you how they wish. I never bother asking for 4pm checkouts in advance. I only mention it at check-in and for more than 2 night stays I tend to check with the reception or RC staff the day before checkout to make sure I'm not disturbed.

Of course, there are still problems with the cleaning staff knocking on your door and keys not working past 12, but there's nothing I can do about that.

So my advice is to basically act as if it's not a favor from the hotel for allowing you to check-out at 4pm. If you email in advance to ask for their permission, they may think you're 'asking' which although is a nice gesture, it may be interpreted as not knowing the rules so they can afford to reply how they wish.

I could not disagree more. With a top tier loyalty program of major hotel chain, it should be incumbant upon you to insure that every hotel staff member is not rooking and cheating you at every corner, in an attempt to leverage your ignorance of every single benefit against you. Good service is them giving you every benefit without you knowing or asking for it, not you having to be hypervigilant over forcing them to keep to the rules. That is tiresome and makes me not want to even bother anymore with the "benefits".

I had this problem last fall at an HP farther north. (Good location I've stayed at for years, and right after the policy change). Didn't feel like locking horns with an overzealous .....y FDC I had not seen before and have not see since when I was literally on the way out the door literally for a funeral. I did politely e-mail the GM the next week and got an appropriate reply. My second suggestion is to push back, which means you need to print out the terms to be able to prove it. My third suggestion is to get Hyatt GP on the phone. 9All of which I acknowledge is easier said than done and I'm not always up for the hassle).

(By the way: Which location? There are past threads stating the Stockyards claims they have a special agreement).
