I have an upcoming stay and read the entire thread. I saw some common themes, and thought it would be useful to start a wiki. Please feel free to update or correct anything. I haven't stayed here, so the information is based on the contents of the thread:
- Diamond Suite Upgrades are NOT available at this property.
- Diamond members receive a complimentary full breakfast for up to 4 guests.
- The beds are very firm platform beds. I saw a few posts where a foam pad for the top of the bed was requested.
- Docked cruise ships that may obstruct the view from the Harbour view rooms.
- The hotel is 4 stories.
The concierge desk offers a weekly tour of the Rocks on Saturday.
Link that shows when cruise ships will be docked opposite the hotel:

I had lunch at PH SYD today, one of the directors told me that I am probably the first guest in that table lol. So far I was very impressived about their services standard and new hotel design, unfortunately they can't offer any room showing so far. Most likely all the F&B outlets are operating now, but only a few standard rooms are opened for guests. All the deluxe rooms will be ready by march and suites are around mid-march.
I took few photos and will upload soon.

I'll have a detailed report by the second week in March sometime after I check in.
Provided I'm not walked to the local Holiday Inn due to opening delays
With 800 dollar plus rooms the expectations must be sky high for many
Thats definitely going to keep out the riff raff!
Now Flyertalkers thats another story

They only added 3 more roof top suites and new glass balconies.

The final result is not exactly the same as their original plan.
They were planning to merge the concierge desk and the reception before, but end up the front desk is directly facing to its main entrance. As I mentioned before the new lobby is quite similar to Park Hyatt Shanghai. You will see the hotel's living room is behind the reception.

Somehow I feel the space for living room is not big enough, and staffs gave those tables to hotel guest first. The design is really good, and most of hotel staff are attentive. The F&B Director even recognized me and we ended up having a short tour around all the outlets.

The club bar is now the only hotel bar and harbour bar is connected with Ball room for event purpose.

Is it just me, or everything looks a lot more crowded than before? I use to love how spacious and open the rooms felt before.. now all the furniture, partitions and design just makes the room look very crowded... Same for the common areas...

I havent seen it in person but was discussing the very same thing with a regular there yesterday!!
the rooms seem far too busy
those small room will be very cluttered I think!
oh well only time will tell if it was a success or not.

Drove past today (Saturday 25th ) and porter said it's open since last week ...but am getting mixed responses as to whether the suites are ready ....
I suspect they need some time to settle.
Hickson rd was busy with cyclists being filmed as well as oversized cars clogging the rd.....so didn't bother to get down !!
Will make another attempt next week !

I tried to reserve a room for yesterday. I emailed the GM asking how much of the hotel was operational as I was going to force availability. I was politely asked if I don't mind seeking accommodation elsewhere....

Checked in today for one night using points - last night in Australia before returning to the UK. Overall the hotel is very nice but a few teething problems - our room safe doesn't work (reported but still not working), the spa bath on the 4th floor is closed for maintenance!, my wife plugged in the iron and it started to smoke and burn and although there is a kettle and tea bags there are no tea cups! All minor things (apart from the burning iron) and I am sure they will get sorted but not what you expect for a A$800+ per night hotel.
We are eating in the restaurant tonight so will post a fuller report with more photos tomorrow.
Have to say that all the staff we have met are great. We were checked in and shown to our room and given the full run down on the renovations and what they hope to achieve with their new "residence hotel".
