Suite upgrades issues

This year I tried to upgrade using suite upgrade awards in 3 different months and it is impossible. I tried also through my concierge and allowing flexible dates. It seems this property doesn’t open up rooms for upgrades...
Then decided to try the Waikiki Centric and it worked in all 3 dates. In two stays got the “oceanview” suite (which has the bathtub).
Has anyone been successful using the upgrades at the HR Waikiki? Which suite do they give?

I've used a TSU here twice before; it's the Family Ocean Suite that they upgrade to. It's really just connecting two ocean front rooms, one with a standard one or two beds, the other with a sectional couch and a murphy bed.

Thank you! I will try to book searching upgradable dates and see how to apply the upgrades.

I’m not sure what the latest is on the exterior renovations, but that took a lot of these out of commission. The hotel does seem to hold these internally - we’ve stayed there a lot over the years so I usually need to call hotel directly to check on these.

Anyone had recent stays? Booked a couple of nights coming up and received a message saying about long wait times due to elevator modernization project. Just wondering if it's still just as bad or at least if the wait time been cut short at the least.

Thank you.

Elevator modernization has been going on forever! It sure what’s happening with rates here. Our Thanksgiving week rate dropped by $90 per night. Not complaining but surprised.

Be interesting to see what happens next year. Apparently Kings village tear down and condo build starting. Lots of noise in Ewa tower for many years I would think.

This hotel has been undergoing constant renovation for at least three years now.

I suggest requesting the Ewa tower. The wait time has usually been much less.
i was told the elevator repairs will last until March 2019.

Maybe Someone that is a Hyatt Representative or I would like to here others that may have had this happen with this Resort.
First, I'm a Globalist and HUGE HYATT fan, I go out of my way to find Hyatt's, almost to a fault for the past 8 years.(nobody cares, I'll move on)

So here's my scenario, I book 5 nights HR Waikiki, early mid-December. I call, wanting to use a TSU and CS puts me on hold, comes back not available. So I ask, what days out of the 5 days would it be available? Our plans are flexible. So I get "It's not available, you won't be able to see it if is available, you can contact the Property directly"

So already, here's my questions or concerns.

1. There's no transparency apparently? Cannot see if a suite is available. You can't just go look, "oh the SPA SUITE is available, I will call and use a TSU.:
2. They don't have many. (fine I can understand that).
3. I see plenty of 1 KING OCEAN FRONT and ONE QNQN OCEAN FRONT available. Which is basically what it is, stayed in it once.
4. I call the Property and she says "call back when in house reservations are available and when they open up that booking period.

So basically, I'm on my 3rd or 4th different answer on this, and now I call back to speak to IN HOUSE.

She's bothered by why I am calling. Who told you to call the Property? Okay, lets skip over that, my question is "Our plans are flexible, out of the 5 days are any days available?" She puts me on a brief hold, comes back, "NONE of those suites are available from now until at least March." So instead of going on, and being frustrated further, I decide to come here.

HYATT HOW ARE NONE AVAILABLE until at least March?? I do not believe this and its just too bad to see on of my favorite companies, that I clearly use often, with zero transparency on this. Anyone? WOH Specialist? Please explain.

I could be off, and maybe there's another Hyatt Property out there, that doesn't show suites available. This is very frustrating, WHY do they even offer TSU at this Property if there's no chance to secure one?

Hi there,
When I put together my Hawaii trip this was the one hotel I couldn't use my TSU at. You are looking for dates that the Family Ocean Suite is available, so you can search online. I tried two random single dates in Dec/Jan and couldn't find availabilty. But could in April.

Anyways the property was good to us on our trip. When staying on points as a globalist in June before 4th of July weekend, they upgraded us to the penthouse suite for 2 of our 3 nights.

Protests

I've been reading about the union hotel protests at the hotels next to the Ewa Tower.

I'm an explorist and applied a club upgrade to my reservation after Thanksgiving I read that the club tower is Diamond Head, which is furthest away from the protests.

How can I guarantee the rooms in DH tower? WOH said they'll assign the rooms at check in. I'm worried enough about the noise and disturbance to change my reservation to a different hotel. Also, what are the chances of a ocean front room? Thanks for your advice!
