It was during my first stay when I asked Hannah, "Hey, what's this Ulukou Room next to mine?" Setting up that room for our one night layover must have been done while we were still VIPs.
Sure enough, even though we got the suite for our second stay, they didn't have any extra bed to spare for this Diamond, so I slept under the stars in a lanai chair...

So many of the people go to other islands but do a few days in Waikiki and this Hyatt is the better option of the 2 in the area if you're wanting to use a DSU and have access to a club.

Power Surge Knockout
Currently here. The past day there was power surge that not only knocked out the hotels computer system, tv's, lift's, etc but my computer as well (the screen) for good. There was no major rainfall/heavy winds. Called the FD who called security and they took a report and had an IT tech come today (Sun) and he confirmed it. Said it wasn't worth having the screen fixed (would cost more than buying a new laptop of course) and would report it to the hotel. Laptop is/was in perfect condition (barely 2 yrs old). Its a Toshiba. Have a tablet as well whereas the apps were eradicated but later returned on their own.
Can anyone please explain what the outcome of this could be, compensation wise? Will being Diamond provide any positive reaction to this? Paid $700+ for it.
UPDATE: Hotel took responsibility and fully reimbursed me. I'm glad that they stepped up w/out any major issues.

What exactly are the perks at HR Waikiki for platinum level? I know they waive the resort fee. Are there any discounts for parking? I've got reservations for end of Oct that I booked prior to becoming platinum for partial ocean view. Will I need to let them know I'm platinum?

The reason I got the card is because when I called to make a change on my booking she mentioned if I signed up for their card, I would get the the resort fee waived because i would be platinum. I was only gold passport at the time and she said it would be 50% off resort fee with just that.

I'm in the hotel now and will ask. The reset fee is waived for diamonds.
I was told the hotel has been at nearly 100% occupancy for months. They have a lull this week and described the end of the month as very crowded. The only way I was able to get a room was to call my contacts and still, it's not what I had been getting (not a complaint). The hotel is that busy

"She" is the booking agent from Hyatt that took my call when I had to extend my booking one night.
