The Marriott has only a handful of true ocean front rooms, the recognition of elites is poor, and the buffet breakfast is low quality.
Agree. The only restaurant that was really good was the old Colony.

NOT all the rooms have been refreshed. The exterior work was to the point pieces of concrete were failing and falling. The pool deck refresh shrank the deck !!

At least Mark and Barbara are still there !

Thumbs up Apology for AC problem.

I had a problem with the air conditioner in my room last night. This morning engineering fixed it. The engineer left an apology that included a choice of appetizer or drink from the Swim Pool bar, dessert in japengo, complimentery one night resort fee or a free movie. I've never received this before.

We were there recently and also received the same coupon for a problem.

We chose wine and a food item for Diamond amenity at check in around noon. When asked when we wanted it delivered, we said ASAP. At 3pm, when it did not arrive, I called down to be told that they don't start delivery of them until 4pm. When it didn't arrive by 6pm, we called down to cancel it....... Boo

I desparately would have liked to open the balcony door a couple of inches to get some fresh air, but alas it was not possible.

Resort fee was not charged and I think a drink in the club wasn't charged for either. Lifts (elevators) were terrible; you could wait 10 minutes+ for them and I was seriously thinking of taking the stairs but didn't see where they were.
what restaurants were operating and what has been closed?

I stayed on Monday night this past week, and Swim seemed quite busy, and Japengo was for reservations only between 6pm and 8pm as they were full. (There were 3-4 groups of people waiting out the front in case a table became available).

Looks like for the next few months all Diamond members are being accommodated in the Ewa tower due to the work going on in the Diamond Head tower.

last time I stayed there( a couple of years ago) the club was like a zoo . is it still that way?
also someone mentioned a diamond discount for dining. what is that all about?

The club is fine, it does get busy at times, but there is plenty of seating out on the balcony, and at this time of the year, the trade winds make it very worthwhile (better than being inside with the A/C).

As a Diamond member you get complimentary cocktails in the lounge, and a discount at restaurants such as Japengo.

The resort fee is waived for Diamond members
