Something new at HP for breakfast, hopefully a trend

Stayed at the HP at SLC airport a couple days ago. At breakfast they were serving french toast, egg white/mushroom/spinach/cheese on English muffin plus bacon/gouda/egg on muffin as part of the standard fare. Additionally, fruit offering was augmented past the usual melon mix with some strawberries. When complimented on the additions the staff indicated that this was something new they were doing and hinted that this might be adopted systemwide at some point in the future. Let's hope so!

My local HP (Bethlehem, PA) used to put out eggs and oatmeal on alternating days but I haven't seen it recently. I think they stopped and I think it was purely a local decision...

This would be a nice addition. The HP breakfast has always irked me, since the for-pay options mean the free continental has fewer options than most other chains.

When I get less as a Diamond at HP than you get for free as a zero-status member at Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express, it's kind of a letdown!

Not to rain on any parades here, but for me, this is a bummer. Yet another "standard amenity" that I can't take advantage of, but still have to pay for (implicitly). Sure, it gets more nuanced than that - higher occupancy rates leading to lower room rates and whatever. But, the psychological bottom line is the same.

Why can't you take advantage of it? Are you one of the new super-humans that doesn't require fuel?

I don't drink coffee. Should I complain about having to subsidize the coffee packets that they put int he room?

What did he say, exactly? Any details you'd be willing to share?

Jeff didn't really give any details. He confirmed the hot breakfast sandwich would be added to the Hyatt Place breakfast offerings. That's it.

Things he didn't address:
- timeline for implementation
- serving size
- hours of availability
- whether the sandwich is pre-prepared or made-to-order
- locations that would be getting it first/soon/later
- calorie count or other nutritional details
- extra cheese slices for elite members
- expected serving temperature
- quantity limits per person or per room
- whether the sandwich would be complimentary on award stays
- vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free/lactose-intolerant/low sodium/low-fat options
- whether Diamonds could pre-reserve or guarantee a sandwich in case of supply shortages
- whether full-service properties would allow a hot sandwich substitution in lieu of lounge access
- whether the sandwich will be available for purchase on hyattathome.com
- whether points will be granted in case the hot sandwich is not available

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.1; en-us; MB525 Build/3.4.2-107_JDN-9) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Given the availability of an egg white & spinach version alongside a ham & cheese version, I would expect that the vegetarian and low-fat options will be covered. This is akin to Element hotels, which offer a "traditional" egg sandwich alongside a vegetable & egg whites variety. They're all made off site and just heated up in batches, but it adds a lot of substance to the usual continental breakfast of stale rolls and melon cubes.
